Advantages: Friendly, typical Brazillian city Disadvantages: Big City, easy to get lost
...I am a Brazilian and have lived in BeloHorizonte for a few months, in which time i had a good opportunity to explore the city. It is a big city with lots to do. However it is not an overly touristy city so it is harder to appreciate it if you are unfamiliar with the language and customs. The shopping in the centre is good, with many cheap products to be found. The city itself is quite hilly and leafy so is interesting to look around.
I recommend visiting some of the parks on the outskirts of the city as these have beautiful views of the city and of nature. There is a park/square called Praça do Papa (Plaza of the Pope), on the outskirts of the city, this park/square offers fantastic views over Belo. Near this park/square there is Parque das Mangabeiras (Mangabeiras Park) which has some fantastic wildlife and beautiful walks. Just ask...

Advantages: Many historical cities Disadvantages: There are no beaches
...Minas Gerais is a State with many historical cities which flourished during the period when there was plenty of gold to be digged out. Brazil does not have many mountains, and most of them are in Minas Gerais. Probably the most famous town is Ouro Preto, although my favourite was Diamantina, where I found much less tourists. The capital of Minas, BeloHorizonte is a modern city which makes a good starting point to explore the State. Minas Gerais is also a State with many industries, which is doing well in the context of Brazilian Economy...

...feet and therefore be unable to steal the Gold mined in the nearby state of BeloHorizonte.
A problem with these uneven streets is that if the weather is poor, they turn into millions of foot deep puddles. Real ankle breakers! But this place is just a short stop, and, I would say, not worth much more of a mention than it has just received.
The island of Ilha Grande resembles in shape a crippled starfish, in that there are arms that stretch out from the main body at strange angles, and often these create sheltered bays of clean white sands. It really is that fantasy image of trekking through the jungle, pushing back the final Palm frond or Banana leaf, and looking out at miles and miles of ocean water and beach. Ahhhhhhh.
There is a limit to the amount of people allowed to travel to the Isle at any time, as the government wants this place...

This hotel captures true Englishness. Whether it be afternoon tea - complimented with the fantastic selection of cakes and cream teas, or the formality of a 5 course evening meal - this hotel offers it all.
There is a short 18-hole golf course, 2... more
