The town itself is mainly a base for exploring the surrounding valleys. It can be cold in winter, and some hotels are not very well equipped. There seems to be quite a lot of tourists in this town, may be partly due to the fact there is even an airport. The best way to visit the surrounding valleys is with your own means of transport. You can hire a car, but this is not very cheap, especially if you choose a 4wd. Despite rumours that accommodation can be scarce, we did not experience any trouble in finding a place for the night.
Advantages: Between greenery and mountainous desert Disadvantages: Sinuous Road in mountain, little infrastructure.

Here I’m back again in my south Morocco Trip. Back to Ouarzazate after a week end in Zagora and the region, I had a warm welcome in the little hotel (got from the routard) that I reserved. Very nice with a small swimming pool (a little bit badly placed in my opinion but it is a good to get it anyway) and a tasteful restaurant, beautiful patio with squares of ground and full of divers plants just to take a cafe break or your breakfast.
My guide from Zagora was anxious to follow me when I revealed him my projects of excursion in the gorges of Daddes and Toudra. The advantage is that he knows very well the region and that I was able to negotiate a good price for the tour (a full day ~10 £ but this was exceptional).
