Very relaxing stay
Advantages: close to town centre Disadvantages: gift shop not open during normal hours
Him in doors and myself stayed here for a couple of days in January to break our journey before travelling onto meet my parents in St Francis Bay. The hotel was really easy to find, which I can tell you is no mean feat with me navigating. The room we stayed in was quite big with two king sized beds, air conditioning and satellite TV, and very good tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel had a gift shop but it appeared that it was never open I heard, after we left the hotel that the owner closes the shop between 9am and 5pm which makes you wonder if it makes any money at all?

The bar area, which was extensively vetted by him in doors was also clean and well stocked with a small pool table located in a separate area. The bar staff were extremely friendly and happy to chat about all things in general especially football.
Unfortunately, the day after we arrived the restaurant was closed for carpet and upholstery cleaning so we only got to sample the food once. Now this is where I had a minor problem, considering Oudsthoorn is the Ostrich capital of the world and him in doors really wanted to try it I found it rather amusing when, after ordering an Ostrich steak each, we were told by our waitress that unfortunately this was off the menu as they hadn't got any. She was most apologetic and joked about sending out her husband to attempt to catch one, we opted for beef steaks which were cooked to perfection.
We booked through the website OctopusTravel.co.uk and paid £81.00 for 2 nights bed and breakfast for our double room. This was in the High season of January, however not the peak season as this tends to be Christmas through to New Year.
The hotel was clean and friendly I would certainly recommend a stay here in the future.
