Oxbridge Apartments Theater District, New York City

Advantages: It's in its own league
Disadvantages: Sometimes it's too much

...New York City is a vast package of neighborhoods, people and cultures. It is what you make of it. It has something for everyone, even those who dislike the place. If the pace in mid-town, meaning Times Square, the Theater District and many businesses, is too much for you, then try going uptown, up to the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, at 110th Street. Or try the outer boroughs. Take a stroll through Central Park. No matter what you've heard about the crime, it's a beautiful park, accessible to all. And it's huge, as varied as the city itself. Wander away on a walking tour, away from the main streets. New York's mosaic of neighborhoods is amazing. One minute, you'll be in a busy commercial area; around the corner, you'll stumble into an ethnic neighborhood with families sitting out on the stoop as children play... Read review

Advantages: The Center of the financial world- very obviously
Disadvantages: not much is open in the evenings or weekends

...Just over a year ago, I had to spend a month and a half working in the New York area. For a few weeks out of that period, I stayed at an apartment on Broad Street, which is very close to Wall Street. I worked in Jersey City, which is just over the river from the financial district of New York. In order to get there, I had to walk to the (now sadly defunct) World Trade Centre and take the "Path" train. I would leave at approximately 8 o'clock in the morning and every morning my walk to the World Trade Center was quite an experience. Walking toward me were thousands, if not tens of thousands of well-dressed women and men heading towards their jobs in Wall Street or in the vicinity. Advantages: So much to do in this great city
Disadvantages: Only Ba fly direct from heathrow.

...Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love is in my opinion one of the best cities to visit in the USA. It is situated on the Delaware river, right next door to New-Jersey and just 90 miles from New-York. Between 1790 and 1800 Philadelphia was the capital city of the USA and is steeped in American History with a multitude of places to visit. The skyline of the downtown area (known locally as 'centre city') is so similar to Canary Wharf in london's East End that on my first visit on looking out of my hotel window on Benjamin Franklyn Boulevard I thought I was back home. Part of the downtown area is dominated by the Old arts district which comprises of the 45 acre Independance Park where you can find The Liberty Bell exhibition and Independance Hall, (where the American constitution was drafted and signed).
