Old Macdonald had a 5-star Hotel - eee ai eee ai oh
Advantages: It's spectacular and surprisingly quiet and the best location in the city Disadvantages: Parking, high prices.
As a student at Oxford University in the late 1980s, the Randolph seemed like the physical embodiment of the class divide that afflicted poor kids like me who came from state schools from the much wealthier students who took the affluence and grandeur of the city's finest hotel entirely in their stride. I'd never been in such a grand hotel and the closest thing to a grand building in my home city was the local branch of Lloyds Bank. My flat mates' ... ...the Randolph for rather staid Sunday lunches in the spectacular high ceilinged dining room where we'd sit and watch the world cycle by through the tall windows. By contrast my parents would visit bringing a bag full of fish and chips or a Chinese take-away. I can't really say that we enjoyed the Randolph that much more than a take-away and at least nobody had to stand on ceremony with my folks.
It seems strange from the 2009 perspective that in ...

No mum it's not a petrol station, it's the Holiday Inn Oxford.
Advantages: Great Price. Good location for roads. Next to park and ride, cheaper than paying for parking! Disadvantages: Another Holiday Inn, nothing that unique about it. Surly reception staff.
...so we found ourselves at Holiday Inn Oxford. Booking I booked the hotel at www.holidayinn.co.uk as part of their summer promotion. The rate was half price at £49 a night including breakfast which for Oxford in the heart of summer was cheap. The credit crunch certainly has provided us with LOTS of bargains! Once booked I received an e-mail confirmation and all was completed. Arrival The hotel is based outside oxford just off the A34. It is ... ...contemporary style and were typical Holiday Inn carbon copy hotel rooms. Everyone a replica of the other. The room was fitted with the following, *A double bed with average linen. There was a pillow selection menu allowing you to order your favourite pillow from reception. The bed on the whole was comfortable but the mattress was a bit hard. *32” LCD TV with full selection of satellite channels and on-demand movies. *Wired broadband connection @ ...

A meeting in Oxford
Advantages: Well located, grand rooms, excellent health suite Disadvantages: Food slightly dissappointing
This hotel is beautifully located for visiting the city of Oxford laying just between the main A34 and the town centre, which is just a short walk away. Set in lovely grounds, the reception area is welcoming and the staff are highly professional, impeccably dressed and make you feel so very welcome.
The hotel has conferencing facilities and meeting rooms which are well serviced and having spent two days of meetings there, everything was delivered ... ...was a lovely morning, they also quickly accommodated our request to take coffee on the patio outside.
The rooms were exceptionally large and well equipped –mine had a huge four poster 6 ft bed! There was a large TV with remote, neatly stored away in a lovely cabinet, a mini bar and a large en-suite bathroom with walk in shower, separate bath, WC and two washbasins! Even the sound from the TV was piped into the bathroom, so you could listen to your ...

Embodiment of old-time elegance and luxury
Advantages: Opulent environment and decor, fresh haut cuisine dishes, excellent location, friendly and helpful staff Disadvantages: Expensive
...Oxford, they stayed at the Old Parsonage on Banbury Road. We enjoyed a lovely dinner there, and I'm going to write a little about my experience of it to help you decide whether you want to stay there too.
OVERVIEW
The Old Parsonage is a charming and serene establishment located a short walk from Oxford city centre (5 or 10 minutes maximum) and less than an hour from London if travelling by car. During the summer, the building itself is almost obscured ... ...traditional luxuriant decor, gives the Old Parsonage an ambiance like that of a private members club. Past the indoors dining area and the elegant bar (where refined looking ladies and gentlemen gently sip at port, whiskey, and martinis), there are 30 recently refurbished rooms situated over two floors around a herb and lavender planted root terrace.
ROOMS
Each of the 30 epicurean rooms is individually designed with air conditioning, flat screen ...

The Barcelo quite a nice hotelo :)
Advantages: Friendly staff, near bus stop, excellent food, comfy beds Disadvantages: Long walk to some rooms, price of food if no included
My partner and I stayed here from 16th - 19th april 2009 as we needed somewhere in oxford that wasn't too expensive and we got a great deal as it was Easter time. It cost us £159 for the three nights and this included our breakfast each morning and also a free dinner on the first night.
I was a bit worried when we got there that is was a bit far out from the city centre, but thankfully it was just our sat nav being tedious and sending us on the ... ...few minutes drive into the town centre. I will advise though that Oxford is not a very car friendly town, there is hardly anywhere to park and of the small places available it can be quite expensive as most people here use bicycles. I do have to say though Oxford has an excellent bus service and buses run every 15 minutes into town and back and from the stop at the hotel (just across the road) it costs only £3 return per person which is great considering ...
