Embodiment of old-time elegance and luxury
Advantages: Opulent environment and decor, fresh haut cuisine dishes, excellent location, friendly and helpful staff Disadvantages: Expensive
...Oxford, they stayed at the Old Parsonage on Banbury Road. We enjoyed a lovely dinner there, and I'm going to write a little about my experience of it to help you decide whether you want to stay there too.
OVERVIEW
The Old Parsonage is a charming and serene establishment located a short walk from Oxford city centre (5 or 10 minutes maximum) and less than an hour from London if travelling by car. During the summer, the building itself is almost obscured ... ...traditional luxuriant decor, gives the Old Parsonage an ambiance like that of a private members club. Past the indoors dining area and the elegant bar (where refined looking ladies and gentlemen gently sip at port, whiskey, and martinis), there are 30 recently refurbished rooms situated over two floors around a herb and lavender planted root terrace.
ROOMS
Each of the 30 epicurean rooms is individually designed with air conditioning, flat screen ...

lock me up and throw away the key
Advantages: the jail theme, Brilliant rooms. Disadvantages: none
Why did I go - As an oxfordshire resident I have heard nothing but excellent reviews of the recently refurbished jail that is now the Malmasion Hotel so I decided to treat myself and my partner to an overnight stay. The hotel was recently voted one of the quirkest hotels in the world only just behind the Ice Hotel!
This is the kind of Hotel that you can take your partner to for a special occasion and make the evening special.
The hotel - After ... ...hotel stand's out with its old exterior to the building. When you enter reception you can instantly tell that you are in a classy place
The hotel was magnificant. After checking into reception, with the friendly staff only to happy to help, we arrived in the main wing of the former prision. Although the hotel is impressivley renovated, it still retains the feel of an old prision. we then excitedly made our way into the room. This had a extra comfty ...

Further out than you'd think
Advantages: Good if you get a bargain, complimentary breakfast, clean Disadvantages: Outskirts of Oxford, not a great area
...came across the Holiday Inn Express on the outskirts of Oxford. Not only was it near enough to the city centre to get a taxi to, but it also wasn’t that expensive and it was a chain that I’d stayed in before, so I knew roughly what to expect. To add to the bargain we discovered that Holiday Inn Express hotels were included in the list of offers we could get with our Walkers crisps Great Trips points! Yep, the very same points that bought us our visit ... ...a bit. The Holiday Express is really near the Oxford’s Kassam stadium. If you get lost then head for this and you’ll find the hotel right next to it. The hotel had loads of parking when we turned up, but I think it would definitely be worth checking to see if a match was on and time your arrival accordingly! As the hotel is on the outskirts of Oxford, parking is free which is deal. We found a space really near the entrance and headed in with our ...

No mum it's not a petrol station, it's the Holiday Inn Oxford.
Advantages: Great Price. Good location for roads. Next to park and ride, cheaper than paying for parking! Disadvantages: Another Holiday Inn, nothing that unique about it. Surly reception staff.
...so we found ourselves at Holiday Inn Oxford. Booking I booked the hotel at www.holidayinn.co.uk as part of their summer promotion. The rate was half price at £49 a night including breakfast which for Oxford in the heart of summer was cheap. The credit crunch certainly has provided us with LOTS of bargains! Once booked I received an e-mail confirmation and all was completed. Arrival The hotel is based outside oxford just off the A34. It is ... ...contemporary style and were typical Holiday Inn carbon copy hotel rooms. Everyone a replica of the other. The room was fitted with the following, *A double bed with average linen. There was a pillow selection menu allowing you to order your favourite pillow from reception. The bed on the whole was comfortable but the mattress was a bit hard. *32” LCD TV with full selection of satellite channels and on-demand movies. *Wired broadband connection @ ...

The Grange B&B in Long Wittenham
Advantages: pet friendly B&B, good location Disadvantages: none
..., so you have all the privacy you need. The room seemed to be the childrens room, now turned into a guest room, so you find quite some memorabilia, which gives the B&B its familiar touch. Still there is enough space to spread your bags and belongings.
Full English Breakfast is served downstairs in the dining area and is made to order.
It is easy to spend a long weekend in the area with all the pretty sights, and River Thames so close invites you ...
