The Barcelo quite a nice hotelo :)
Advantages: Friendly staff, near bus stop, excellent food, comfy beds Disadvantages: Long walk to some rooms, price of food if no included
My partner and I stayed here from 16th - 19th april 2009 as we needed somewhere in oxford that wasn't too expensive and we got a great deal as it was Easter time. It cost us £159 for the three nights and this included our breakfast each morning and also a free dinner on the first night.
I was a bit worried when we got there that is was a bit far out from the city centre, but thankfully it was just our sat nav being tedious and sending us on the ... ...few minutes drive into the town centre. I will advise though that Oxford is not a very car friendly town, there is hardly anywhere to park and of the small places available it can be quite expensive as most people here use bicycles. I do have to say though Oxford has an excellent bus service and buses run every 15 minutes into town and back and from the stop at the hotel (just across the road) it costs only £3 return per person which is great considering ...

Further out than you'd think
Advantages: Good if you get a bargain, complimentary breakfast, clean Disadvantages: Outskirts of Oxford, not a great area
...came across the Holiday Inn Express on the outskirts of Oxford. Not only was it near enough to the city centre to get a taxi to, but it also wasn’t that expensive and it was a chain that I’d stayed in before, so I knew roughly what to expect. To add to the bargain we discovered that Holiday Inn Express hotels were included in the list of offers we could get with our Walkers crisps Great Trips points! Yep, the very same points that bought us our visit ... ...a bit. The Holiday Express is really near the Oxford’s Kassam stadium. If you get lost then head for this and you’ll find the hotel right next to it. The hotel had loads of parking when we turned up, but I think it would definitely be worth checking to see if a match was on and time your arrival accordingly! As the hotel is on the outskirts of Oxford, parking is free which is deal. We found a space really near the entrance and headed in with our ...

No mum it's not a petrol station, it's the Holiday Inn Oxford.
Advantages: Great Price. Good location for roads. Next to park and ride, cheaper than paying for parking! Disadvantages: Another Holiday Inn, nothing that unique about it. Surly reception staff.
...so we found ourselves at Holiday Inn Oxford. Booking I booked the hotel at www.holidayinn.co.uk as part of their summer promotion. The rate was half price at £49 a night including breakfast which for Oxford in the heart of summer was cheap. The credit crunch certainly has provided us with LOTS of bargains! Once booked I received an e-mail confirmation and all was completed. Arrival The hotel is based outside oxford just off the A34. It is ... ...contemporary style and were typical Holiday Inn carbon copy hotel rooms. Everyone a replica of the other. The room was fitted with the following, *A double bed with average linen. There was a pillow selection menu allowing you to order your favourite pillow from reception. The bed on the whole was comfortable but the mattress was a bit hard. *32” LCD TV with full selection of satellite channels and on-demand movies. *Wired broadband connection @ ...

PREMIER TRAVEL INN - OXFORD CENTRAL
Advantages: close to the city Disadvantages: close to the traffic
This particular Premier Travel Inn is situated on the Oxford Business Park. It is just off the A4142 on the junction with the B480 and it is opposite the Rover Works, 3 miles from Oxford city centre. My husband originates from Wallingford near Oxford so we travel up that way occasionally to see old friends and family. We were finding it more and more difficult to find a reasonable B&B for the night. Most of them in that area are £60 upwards for a ... ...free.
FACILITIES
+++++++++
Premier Travel Inn has a standard of facilities. All rooms include an ensuite bathroom with a shower, tea/coffee making facilities and a tv.
This particular Travel Inn is classed as a "Metro" which means that you get upgraded facilities, such as satellite television, hairdryer, computer modem point. Apparantly "WiFi" wireless network facilities are available although we did not take our computer with us, so could not ...

Holiday Inn Express, Oxford
Advantages: Very clean, excellent value for money, breakfast provided. Disadvantages: A few more nearby dining options would make it a perfect place to stay.
I stayed here for a few nights in October 2007 whilst visiting Oxford.
The parking lot is large, providing more than ample space even during a fully-booked night. Being right next to the Kassam Stadium, this hotel is super for those wanting to partake in watching Oxford United.
Check-in was very fast and efficient; the staff were very welcoming and polite. Our rooms were on the third floor which was just a short elevator ride from the lobby.
The ... ...sized sofa bed in the room too. The bathroom area was incredibly clean and modern. No bathtub is provided, but the power showers are excellent. Plastic cups, shower caps, soap, face towels are provided in the bathroom. A nice touch: if you forget any bathroom items then you can ask reception for complementary replacements. Within the room you get basic tea/coffee making facilities which include the same items as the other hotel chains in this category. ...
