A meeting in Oxford

Advantages: Well located, grand rooms, excellent health suite
Disadvantages: Food slightly dissappointing

This hotel is beautifully located for visiting the city of Oxford laying just between the main A34 and the town centre, which is just a short walk away. Set in lovely grounds, the reception area is welcoming and the staff are highly professional, impeccably dressed and make you feel so very welcome. The hotel has conferencing facilities and meeting rooms which are well serviced and having spent two days of meetings there, everything was delivered ...
...was a lovely morning, they also quickly accommodated our request to take coffee on the patio outside. The rooms were exceptionally large and well equipped –mine had a huge four poster 6 ft bed! There was a large TV with remote, neatly stored away in a lovely cabinet, a mini bar and a large en-suite bathroom with walk in shower, separate bath, WC and two washbasins! Even the sound from the TV was piped into the bathroom, so you could listen to your ...

3 Star hotel? Are you kidding me?

Advantages: Close to city centre, cheap compared with other hotels
Disadvantages: Thin walls, poor/no service, no cleaning, cold shower, paltry breakfast

...my parents in Oxford in Victoria House Hotel, seeing that it promised satin and silk and all sorts of luxuries in their website and leaflets, and it was very close to city centre. My parents were VERY unhappy with it and I feel it's important to reflect their views. - Booking the hotel was pretty troublesome. My dad rang twice and I rang twice and finally I got through to the receptionist. His English wasn't very good so it was difficult to get ...
...my questions. I eventually managed to book a room but had to give him my credit card details. - The website promised £69 a night for a double room (2 guests) but when my parents arrived, the surly receptionist pointed to a board on the wall that said £80 a night. When I asked her why the price had changed, she said she didn't know anything about the website. Never mind, my parents had to stay there. To be fair, £80 a night for a double room in Oxford ...

Hotel perfect for exploring oxford

Advantages: Lovely hotel full of character
Disadvantages: Slightly loud extractor fan in the bathroom!

I stayed in this B&B (Its called a hotel, but i would class it more as a B&B) for 1 night whilst on a business trip, and was not disappointed. I was feeling rather energetic at the end of my first day, and as the sun was still shining I decided to get out my map and walk back to the hotel. It is number 100, Banbury road, and it took me around 20 minutes to walk from the main part of the town, and I foudn it very easily, it was literally just a straight ...
...drive there. I rung the bell on the reception desk and a very friendly lady took my details and walked me up to my room, which was lovely. It wasn't massively huge, but big enough for me, and they had very kindly upgraded me from a single to a double room for no extra cost because they were quiet on that night, how nice of them! The bed was extremely comfy, and the room was well equipped with a wardrobe, 2 bedside cabinets, full-length mirror, dressing ...

Further out than you'd think

Advantages: Good if you get a bargain, complimentary breakfast, clean
Disadvantages: Outskirts of Oxford, not a great area

...came across the Holiday Inn Express on the outskirts of Oxford. Not only was it near enough to the city centre to get a taxi to, but it also wasn’t that expensive and it was a chain that I’d stayed in before, so I knew roughly what to expect. To add to the bargain we discovered that Holiday Inn Express hotels were included in the list of offers we could get with our Walkers crisps Great Trips points! Yep, the very same points that bought us our visit ...
...a bit. The Holiday Express is really near the Oxford’s Kassam stadium. If you get lost then head for this and you’ll find the hotel right next to it. The hotel had loads of parking when we turned up, but I think it would definitely be worth checking to see if a match was on and time your arrival accordingly! As the hotel is on the outskirts of Oxford, parking is free which is deal. We found a space really near the entrance and headed in with our ...

Review of Express By Holiday Inn Oxford Kassam Stadium, Oxford

No mum it's not a petrol station, it's the Holiday Inn Oxford.

Advantages: Great Price. Good location for roads. Next to park and ride, cheaper than paying for parking!
Disadvantages: Another Holiday Inn, nothing that unique about it. Surly reception staff.

...so we found ourselves at Holiday Inn Oxford. Booking I booked the hotel at www.holidayinn.co.uk as part of their summer promotion. The rate was half price at £49 a night including breakfast which for Oxford in the heart of summer was cheap. The credit crunch certainly has provided us with LOTS of bargains! Once booked I received an e-mail confirmation and all was completed. Arrival The hotel is based outside oxford just off the A34. It is ...
...contemporary style and were typical Holiday Inn carbon copy hotel rooms. Everyone a replica of the other. The room was fitted with the following, *A double bed with average linen. There was a pillow selection menu allowing you to order your favourite pillow from reception. The bed on the whole was comfortable but the mattress was a bit hard. *32” LCD TV with full selection of satellite channels and on-demand movies. *Wired broadband connection @ ...
