a local cafe
Advantages: reasonable prices, different Disadvantages: too small and only in Oxford!
I have recently moved to Oxford and met my Auntie, who is a local, for lunch on my first weekend there. She instantly knew where we were going to eat, G&D's cafe. We went to the cafe on St Aldgates although I later found out that there are 3 cafes in the small chain. It is claimed to be an Oxford institution. We lingered in the cafe for ages, having a drink and then food and then another drink but we weren't pressurised at any point to hurry or leave. ... ...or pizza bagels. I chose a melt which was bacon and brie. It was yummy and ever so filling, it's hard to think that something so small can be so filling, I didn't want anything to eat that evening. The cafes serve their own ice cream which is made in the original of the three cafes. We didn't have any as we were too full! The ice cream comes in a wide range of flavours - and they have a petition book in each of the shops where customers can vote ...

Oxfords finally got a Wagamama's
Advantages: Cheap, nice, healthy Disadvantages: The service
Wagamama's oxford
Wagamama's first UK restaurant opened in Bloomsbury in1992. At first its restaurants were limited to London and Dublin. However the outlet now boasts 50 UK restaurants and one of its newest openings is this Oxford restaurant, which opened, in September last year. Wagamama's is located just off the main shopping street of Cornmarket and is handily on the way to the covered market, which is one of the biggest draws for shoppers in ... ...is in the former pub that was Bar Oz. This was a fairly low key opening which no information in the local press and it was that I stumbled upon it whilst going for a baguette in the market at lunchtime did I realise that Oxford finally has a Wagamama's.
This is a chain that my girlfriend first introduced me to some time earlier whilst on a day trip to London. Since then we have eaten at a variety of Wagamama's around the country. The menu
The chains ...

Peri Peri Good Chicken
Advantages: Cheap, Freshly cooked, Wide range of spice levels Disadvantages: Annoying staff
Nando’s ----------- Nandos is a restaurant chain of Portuguese roots but first opened in South Africa in 1987 and enter the UK market five years later and has since grown into over 200 franchised outlets and is famous for it Peri-Peri Chicken. Why I went there ---------------------- I found myself enjoying a couple of drinks recently in this part of Oxford after work, and as usual we didn’t plan a small thing known as where to get something to eat. ... ...to enjoy the recent enjoyable evenings that we have experienced. 2) Not to expensive We racked our brains for ages an aged on somewhere that didn’t met our requirements to sit outside as many of the restaurants in this part of oxford do not have the facility to sit outside. We then walked past this building and realised that there were about 10 tables outside, so we decided to go here. The Food -------------- The food is quite simple, but sometimes ...

Don't Curry, Be Happy
Advantages: Cheap Disadvantages: Not cheerful
Jamal's Restaurant on Great Walton Street, Jericho, is popular among students for obvious reasons. Indian food is a staple for the great unwashed, but more importantly Jamal's operates a Bring Your Own Alcohol policy - and no student needs any encouragement to do so.
To be honest, you'd have to have had a few pints in order to stomach some of the food on offer. I ordered a Vegetarian Biryani, but clearly this wasn't a popular choice, as the kitchen ... ...out a few slivers of red and green pepper with a couple of onions, making the dish practically inedible.
Additionally, the drunken nature of the occupants of the other tables contributed to a fun atmosphere at the beginning of the meal, but one which ultimately turned anti-social, with food being thrown around the restaurant amid shouting, singing and swearing - all with the waiters looking grimly on.
Don't go. ...

Swapping ties for free beer
Advantages: Traditional feel, open until late Disadvantages: Very small, not a great selection of ale
The Bear is a small hidden away pub on Blue Boar Street, just off either the Highstreet or St. Aldates, and if it was this obscure anywhere else in Oxford, probably wouldn't ever have anything other than locals there. It actually sits, however, next to Christ Church College and so is often home to a fair number of students who are happy being able to stumble just a few metre back home, rather than try and navigate themselves druknely acorss the whole ... ...L-shape with the bar along one arm of the L, and a couple of tables and the other arm being a small room with four or five tables. At a time when it isn't busy the Bear is a very nice oldy-worldy pub with low celining, and oak beams. It also has its fair share of useless paraphenalia on the walls and celing, being largely covered with different ties. The story goes that if you came in with a tie belonging to a college, regiment, sports team etc that ...
