I normally travel to France on our family holiday with P&O and i am generally very impressed, however, these ferry journeys all have been from Portsmouth to one of their many ports in France. However with my brother last week we went over to Calais from Dover and the ships are so basic! The stairs are so cramped and steep! its like they were building it and forgot to put them in and thought at the last minute we better put them in! i must admit the food is nice even though smaller portions than other restaurants and the price i am not so sure about. It is quite alot of money for a meal of ship standard not restaurant at £6.95. And the ships restaurant could do with a new make over. it is dull and boring! i mean they have spent all their money in the other restaurants on higher decks for the lorry drivers and for people who can afford prices of £10 for a meal. The toilets are disgusting, they smell really bad and it is like they are never cleaned! However i must say these are alot of negative points but the best is the two shops. The first being the general gift store where you can buy sweets, boxes of chocolate and newspapers al at rather good prices. With the other store being the duty free shop. Everything in this store is very priced, i know you are saying it is because of duty free but on other ships like seafrance P&O are cheaper. Also they have a good selection of beauty proucts from cream to perfume. As well as general gifts and useful holiday items like batteries. Overall the journey is ok as there is nice views over the English Channel and the shops are full of intersting items but if i was travell at night when the stores close early and you have no views then i would be very bored and there is nothing else onboard to do. The real only benefit of traveling from Dover is duty free shopping and the short crossing.

Hi. Some interesting points in your review. I did find it a little difficult to read though, and think it might be a little easier if you broke it down into a few paragraphs? Welcome to Ciao. Cheers. Christina ;-) x

Hi there and welcome to Ciao. I think the ships on the D-C route are just there to ship the booze cruise hoardes over the water :) xx E.
