i have just completed a return trip on this route, the first time i have used this route in years. after reserving online as i was travelling with a wheelchair user we still had to ring to arrange ship access, like most travel though. bit of a pain in this day and age. we arrived early as advised and boarding was swift and the lift access sorted easily. the slow ferry we selected, has an old time charm more appealing to adults as it lacks the burger type facilities of the modern routes/ships. we found it great even though the corridors are narrow. food was quite good but as dear as all the rest in that respect given the captive audience. similarily the shop like the competition is unimaginatively stocked and very small but ample for the crossing time. might be a little snug at peak times. there is an small enclosed family room which the kids seemed to enjoy and onboard quiz sheets to keep the older ones busy. may be worth bringing your own kids stuff, as there isnt the same activities as stena have. thankfully the ship isnt overrun by too many machines so thats a pleasant change. mind you i was annoyed that the massage chairs are £1 for five minutes, a rip off and are alarmed if you sit and dont pay. cant see them ever being used. there is a quiet lounge which was quite full and popular. it looked relatively comfortable. however its nice still to be able to go out on deck in this day and age even if its bracing. the staff seemed relatively friendly but didnt really offer my disabled friend any great assistance. mind you considering the travel options available in ferrying across from northern ireland this is quite good and much better than negotiating belfast port at the moment. the main gripe is accessing cairnryan port because of the scottish roads. for the return crossing we very nearly didnt make it due to the lack of overtaking opportunities. this is really pretty unacceptable and its about time the ferry companies did some proper campaigning to sort it out as this is a well established route and the roadsides have plenty of expansion room. be warned that the journey from carlisle to port will take well over 2 hours in most occasions regardless of the weather. this is the main reason why we would normally chose to travel dublinholyhead instead of ex northern ireland. it is a route that i will choose again as the crossing times are much more convenient than other ireland uk routes. all in all i would recommend it especially if you can accept the basic service they can provide. happy sailing.

Quite a good Review, but I think thatit needs a lot more information and detail to justify a higher rating. It would also help if you wrote your review in paragraphs broken up with line spacings, it makes it much easier to read. It helps if you write every product Review as if you’re writing for someone who has virtually no knowledge of what you’re reviewing, in clear non technical language. You might find it helpful if you read and rate some other peoples’ reviews (especially those that have been rated VH or E). It might give you an idea of the sort of things you need to include. It might also be helpful if you had a look at the Ciao guides to writing Reviews and Rating I found them really useful. If I can be of any help feel free to put a note in my gb. Rich
