If you are well prepared for the sea sickness and take travel pills before you get on, and all the way through the journey, this can be a really enjoyable short holiday. I have been on 5 of these mini cruises now, and am soon to have a 6th. Yes, it can be expensive to eat, but when you actually dock in Spain, you can go to a supermarket and stock up on baguettes and meats etc, and eat them on the journey home. I took my children the first time, and we were all ill. I would only ever go now with friends, as with kids, it can be so expensive as they want money for machines, drinks and meals every 5 minutes. The swimming pool is not up to much, the jacuzzi was open every time I've been, the drinks were cheap, and it's lovely and relaxing on deck sunbathing (another thing, I would only ever go in peak season now, as the weather at other times can be atrocious and contribute to sea sickness) and besides I only really go to relax. The trips are a waste of money, as you dont get long enough, If you just stay in port, you get 4 hours to have a drink and a browse, and stock up on goods for the journey home. All in all, the first time can be really daunting, but once you get the hang of it, these cruises can be really good fun.

Advantages: Relaxing travel, good price, If you want a cruising taster a good option Disadvantages: Expensive onboard food, innacurate cabin, transfer bus confusion.
