Be aware when booking P&O ferries! The company might just cancel your tickets and expects you to buy new ones.
Recently, I booked a return passage for two people from Rotterdam to Hull. We missed outbound journey due to traffic jams and were advised by P&O ferries to take an alternative route from Calais to Dover using the same tickets without additional charges. We did so and when entering the ferry in Calais we were asked to confirm whether we take the route as booked back from Hull to Rotterdam. We said yes but no one told us what would follow.
Unbelievably, P&O ferries cancelled our tickets for the return journey. When we arrived in Hull, the P&Q ferries employees argued that because we missed our outward journey, the return ticket would be invalid too. We were expected to buy new tickets. The manager refused to hand out anything in writing confirming the circumstances of the situation. After three hours of discussions and only after we managed to organize four witnesses who would have been willing to testify what was happening in court, we were finally allowed on board.
Our cabin was upgraded and we received free meals but this does not compensate for the hassle and worries of not being able to return to our home country. We also met someone else to whom exactly the same happened before. In conclusion: I will not use P&O ferries again because I don’t want to risk having my tickets cancelled. I assure that this report is true and this could be testified by several witnesses.

I appreciate you are not happy with the service but did you miss the journey due to your own fault or P & Os ? If it was your own fault then they would not really be obliged to help out. Also you need to give us more information about P & O in general
