Pacific Coastal Airlines

Advantages: The are possibly the best airline avaliable and everything is excellent
Disadvantages: I must admit they do cost a little more than most airlines

...I must admit, I do travel a lot as my relatives are pretty spread out in the world so I have traveled with various airline companies and multiple types of planes (apart from concorde as it costs way to much) and seeing that Cathay Pacific are an Asian airline, they usually participate in long haul flights which are usually Boeing 747's. In my opinion, I consider Cathay Pacific one of the better airlines. With the amount of times my family and I have traveled with them, we never once had any trouble with poor service or overbooking. Losing luggage almost never happens but there was this one time where the check-in assissant forgot to give us one of our luggage ID tags so we couldn't check on them to make sure they were sucesfully loaded on our connecting flight but luckly Cathay Pacific had loaded our luggage and nothing... Advantages: Modern fleet.Good ground and in flight service
Disadvantages: In flight entertainment system is bettered by SIA

...Cathay Pacific,for most of the post world war II period the flag carrier for Hong Kong SAR,is a popular airline among frequent travellers. It is not hard to find the reason why! This Asian airline has a modern,well maintained fleet,it has a reputation for efficient ground service,and it has a good route network.My experiences with Cathay Pacific have always been positive,although all of my flights have been regional ones on the Kuala Lumpur-Seoul,Manila, Jakarta and Hong Kong sectors.I have yet to travel with this airline on a long haul flight. The cabin crew,recruited not only from Hong Kong SAR but from most Asian countries,are well trained,helpful and efficient.The standard of spoken English among the flight attendants is good,comparable to that of the likes of MAS,SIA or JAL.There is a very readable in flight magazine tucked... ...Cathay Pacific is possibly the worst airline ever. I had YVR-HKG / HKG-HAN / SGN-HKG / HKG-YVR flights booked five months in advance. At the last moment, two days before leaving (Monday night) my mother suffered from a bad fall and broke both of her wrists/arms. I was in Emergency Room most of the day Saturday. I went to the Vancouver airport that night to try to get the ticketing counter to either cancel the flight, or at least remove HKG-HAN/SGN-HKG and change YVR-HKG to a later date - expecting it to be faster/easier than on the phone (as CX does not provide any way to change flights, or even to change the seat, online (despite the flight being booked with them online) - it is truly operating in the dark ages; even for tickets it still insists on issuing paper tickets that one has to go and pick up in person for Internet sold...
