Advantages: Relaxed people, great food, an adventure! Disadvantages: SO big, don't underestimate distances
...On 25 April 2004 I was in Sydney with a few friends. We had just been to the wedding of a friend from back home (Scotland) and had 3 full weeks to go. What to do next? Drive the 2,500 kilometres north to Cairns obviously!
This is the story of that journey and why I would recommend the places I visited to anyone, just don’t drive!
We had 13 days to see a bit of Australia and get back to Sydney before flying to New Zealand. Loads of time we thought! How wrong was I. The funny thing was when we eventually got back to Sydney I noticed how cheap the internal flights are in Australia…we could have flown everywhere and had a lot of time to spend on the finer things in life.
But I’ll come back to that later…
***Sydney***
I have a number of friends who have moved to Sydney and it was great to see them again. I’ll go into Sydney...

Location from Airport
The hotel is pretty conveniently located from SydneyInternational Airport, approximately 20km or 30 mins drive. If you are hiring a car it's a straightforward run from the airport and is well signposted although there are a few one way streets around and Oxford Street can be pretty hectic so it can't hurt to get your hands on a map of the local area before you set off. If you are getting a train, it's only about 15 mins and you can get off at one of the nearby stations Central (the city's major hub) or townhall which are both fairly close by.
The hotel also offers transfers for an extra charge.
Rooms
I was pleasantly surprised by the size and the cleanliness of the rooms. I stayed in a double room which had a queen size double bed, a fold out sleeper couch, small table and chairs, average sized bathroom plus TV...

Advantages: Comfortable, pleasant, good service Disadvantages: Not easy to work in the rooms
..., there was a reasonable selection of channels, both local and international.
The suites mostly have two rooms, with an a living room that has a couple of armchairs and sofa, dining table, and a kettle with tea and coffee. A kettle can be provided in the regular rooms on request.
The bathrooms have a bath tub with shower, toilet and sink and not much room for anything else. The toiletaries are "Yu'i" and quite exotic - lime and basil shampoo and shower gel.
My main complaint about the rooms is that, despite all rooms having internet access and cables supplied, it is difficult to work as the plugs are in the wrong place and hard to get to. At the desk, the plug is underneath and difficult to reach. If you choose to work from the bed, the internet cable won't reach and there is no power supply within reach either. In the suites, the cable barely...
