2007, myself and the other half had actually made it to 9 years and 360 days, as a celebration of this even we decided to go out for a few drinks and a meal and get the baby sitting in while me made our way for a night of romance at the Pack horse hotel! so we booked it for 5 days later.

Our choice of the hotel was mainly down to the fact that the Moat house and others alike were the more traditional business man or Friday night slapper resort and looks as such the pack horse has a traditional long heritage in Bolton and its look reflects that from the outside. Situated in a square with bars and clubs surrounding and a few decent restaurants its ideal for night out but without all the walking up and down the strip and then a required taxi, basically it's all there in one convenient spot. In fact if you were wanting to go into town the next day or before its right there in it and ready.

So the night started as we met, instead of going out together we left separately and met up at a certain time, 8pm in a cocktail bar, that then commenced a gift swapping session and a few cocktails, that I can't remember the names but they were every colour of the rainbow, after 2 or 3 or 10 cocktails a couple of tequila slammer and a few margarita slammers, we were a touch hungry, to which we proceeded to the restaurant where we both order steak, a desert and eat and left within 5 minutes as it was time for the real main course!
We proceeded across the square to the hotel at night the hotel looks very pretty with lighting and hanging baskets to give a quaint look and feel, as we entered we checked in and was escorted to the lifts we were told directions to our room and was wished a good night the service at reception was excellent, although I could see an open cleaning cupboard and items spilling which didn't give a very good impression, also downstairs is a very large dining room which is also used for conferences along with a second conference room upstairs.

After departing the lift we made our way to our room, I will point out that we had booked the honeymoon suite, and the cost of the suite for one night was £150.00, the corridors are very long and very narrow but enough room to move, even though we were a little(a lot) drunk. Upon arriving at our room, I opened the door and took my partners hand and entered, the room wasn't very big for the honeymoon suite but I was assured it as for the hotel, it had an en suite and king size bed, the room was carpeted and had gold trimmings along the walls, the hotel had very nicely covered the well made bed with rose petals and on the side was a bottle of champagne in a metal ice bucket, with a selection of chocolates and strawberries well presented, the room also had antique looking furniture with drawers and a dressing table with large mirror.

We then both got changed and retired to bed, to which I noticed silk sheets and feather pillows, which was really nice as the bed was huge, ------at this point ill let your imagination write the review until morning ------

We awoke with a prearranged wakeup call from the telephone at around 9.30am and was asked would we like breakfast now, to which I said yes, 10 mins later a knock on door and room service presented us with a full English, toast, coffee, juice and all served on silver bed trays, me and my Mrs. both got in bed and eat together, we took our time had some fun and giggles and left around 12.30pm.

Overall my experience was a very pleasant one the hotel was adequate for our requirements, but I would say is desperate need of a refurbishment as it is looking very old and not in a good way, I cant fault service everyone was pleasant and friendly the costs a little higher than most but there service is more personal, and at night it was very quiet.

If your in Bolton its a place to think about over more business focused places.
