The Palace Hotel is situated on Panska, about 100 yards from, and parallel to Wenceslas Square and so is well placed for the underground and the main shopping streets, the historic castle is only three stops on the underground.

Advantages: Centrally Located, large rooms, beautiful architecture. Disadvantages: Bar is expensive
The Palace Hotel is situated on Panska, about 100 yards from, and parallel to Wenceslas Square and so is well placed for the underground and the main shopping streets, the historic castle is only three stops on the underground.
The hotel is also opposite the excellent 'Mucha' museum.
The public rooms are luxurious and the bedrooms large, well appointed and kept clean by the excellent staff.
Breakfast ... ...so many interesting restaurants that we ate lunches and dinners outside the hotel, but always within walking distance.
The staff are the jewel in the crown of this particular hotel. They speak very good English, are always friendly and eager to help and, when on my last day I left a £20 note in my room, it was waiting for me a few hours later when I returned having realised my mistake.

Breakfast is a well-stacked buffet that is kept replenished. Prague has so many interesting restaurants that we ate lunches and dinners outside the hotel, but always within walking distance.

The only downside was the bar... okay, so it's a five-star hotel, but there is no excuse for charging international prices for local beers (60Kc for a small beer) when a bar 50 yards away charges 17Kc for a large beer.
Advantages: Beautiful place, amazing sights round every corner, lots of culture Disadvantages: Some really bad accomadation, hygiene in a few bars / restaurants is lacking
artists, singers and violin players and you're guaranteed at least one rendidtion of ave maria!
On the walk up to the castle are a plethora of shops, selling everything. There are loads of hand-crafted goods, internet cafes (which are all over the city), restaurants so you can almost make a day of it. The views when you get to the top are amazing, you can see all over the city, including all the famous monuments, of which there are plenty. Also at the tops are a number of shops in what used to be the servants quarters and a magnificent church.
Another main tourist attraction is found at the top of the main avenue in Prague - King Wenseslas (sp!) palace. NOt that interesting to myself to be honest but a place more for the kids or those interested in stuffed animals & wierd & wonderful rocks.
Prague is full of architectural diversity ...
Advantages: spectacular scenery, history and culture, great people, good food Disadvantages: crowded in July and August, in winter during X-mas
the culture of central and eastern Europe. You will think about them when visiting Schönbrunn Palace or the Hofburg residence in Vienna, their castles in the countryside, even when visiting their other landmarks in Prague and Budapest. You will think about them when listening to famous orchestras like the Vienna Philharmonic performing in the State Opera or at the Salzburg Festival. Their collections of famous paintings can be seen in the "Kunsthistorisches Museum", different foods and drinks bear their name, in short: though there is no more monarchy for almost a century, the "Kaisers" are still omnipresent...

Advantages: Cheap place to visit.Far nicer than expected Disadvantages: Language not easy to understand or speak. But most speak english
the view over the city and river are excellant.
The main place I would recommend visiting in Prague are Prazsky Head(Prague castle).I would allow at least half a day to look around it all.Theres a beautiful Catherdal and palace within the grounds.Admission is free and I would suggest catching tram number 22 from the city which drops you at the front of the entrance. This is handy also as it is the highest point and is therefore all down hill afterwards!!!.Theres loads of places to visit and just walking small side streets is a wonderful experience. The main wonder of the city are the buildings.
Food and drink are very cheap.Local beer is about 35p a bottle , but didnot taste like Fosters, so I didnot like it.Try the local food, its far cheaper than a Mcdonalds and its lovely.
I would recommend stays of around 3 to 5 days.Its definately ...
