Part of a small, mainly off-strip chain, the Palace Station is a clean, comfortable, basic hotel. (Palace Station may be about to gain some notoriety due the activities of one ex sports star turned serial suspect!) Most of the rooms are in a 2 storey extension at the back of the casino with some rooms adjacent to a major road (we did not get disturbed by the road though). The rooms are not large by American (or Vegas) standards in general, but are more than adequate for a comfortable stay on a budget. There are a couple of swimming pools in semi-enclosed courtyards. The hotel staff are helpful and polite without ever quite qualifiying for 'friendly'. The casino has the typical relaxed vibe of an off-strip property. There is a choice of dining available for cheap prices with good quality. There is a free shuttle bus to the strip and to other properties in the Station Casino's group. Once you are on the strip, for $5 you can get a 24hour pass for the 'Deuce' strip bus which will whisk you up and down the strip to your hearts content. (With a bit of enginuity you can get to visit all the off-strip casinos via their own shuttle buses for the price of a few $1 tips to the drivers - but don't tell them I told you so!) In summary, the Palace Station is clean and comfortable. The food is very reasonably priced for the huge portions. Being off-strip is not an issue. A good place to stay on a budget.
