I was thinking of the review to write in this Christmas period and this 5-star hotel came to my mind... It reminded me of one of the greatest hotel I've ever stayed with.

To be more frank, I've been supported by EC-ASEAN to join a 2-week training in Portugal. So, the arrangement and cost are covered by them. I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights.

GENERAL INFO

Their own description about their hotel is: 'A glamorous five star hotel in the grand tradition of a golden era - come for the distinction and the elegance of the Estoril coast, its shops, entertainment and restaurants; the sun and the beach; our own golf course and the best casino in Europe.'

However, my description is shorter: 'LUXURY AND CLASSIC!!'

Located just opposite of the gorgeous beach of Estoril, Lisbon, the hotel has been decorated to create smart atmosphere that evoke all the splendour and charm of the golden era of Estoril, from the first step through the door, to the en suite bathroom.

The history of this 5-star hotel has dated back to the 1930. It has chance to welcome famous guests from all over the world through its lengthy age. I've been told something about the Prince of Japan and his wife stayed there for their honeymoon.

Having an age of a man's life, the hotel has been in great condition. It offers all the modern comforts and conveniences of an exclusive five star resort, but always with the greatest care to preserve the hotel's unique classical heritage.

All year round, events that are held in Estoril are
 Laureus - The Oscars of World Sports
 Portugal Golf Open
 Estoril Tenis Open
 Portugal Sailing Match Race
 Internacional Horse Jumping Competitions
 World Motorcycle Championship Races
 World Bridge Championship
 World Windsurf Championship
 Formula 1 Historic World Championship
 Estoril Music Festival

THE WEBSITE

The hotel's website, http://www.palacioestorilhotel.com, provides a lot of its information and shows how to reserve the room. Since most of the things are in Portuguese, I can access the hotel's website and learn many things about the hotel and surrounding areas.

THE ROOM

I was unable to believe myself at the first time I entered the room. Is this for real? Is this the room only for me?

There were so many questions raised to my head at the time I entered my room. Most hotels that I've ever stayed with are very careful with their lobby and exterior. Hotel Palacio Estoril is different. Its room are very well decorated, with unequalled furniture and design. My room was a double room. It is well equipped but it still has a lot of space. The quality of housekeeping was also great. Unlike other hotels that they do the best only for the first night; here, they did everything perfect for both nights I stayed. You'll be surprised for the number of pillow on the bed (actually, for what?? I've to pile them somewhere else so that I can sleep), the weight of the wooden chair (seriously, a little bit too heavy), amount and varieties of bathroom supplies.

THE PRICE

Well, what kind of price do you think is suitable for this historic 5-star hotel? I was not in the surprise that its official room rate stated the range from 320euro (single room - off season) to 530euro (suite - on season). However, the price deal can be a lot cheaper if you can get one from the internet.

RESTAURANTS

During my time there, I've only had 2 meals with them, and both of them are breakfast! However, I was very pleased with varieties, quality, and taste of their breakfasts. My say-no factor is that breakfast should not be the same everyday and they didn't do that (of course, apart from basic stuffs). Think about having good meals in a luxury classic restaurant. Good food - good environment, what do you want more? Bunny girls?

OTHER FACILITIES

The hotel has golf course (18 + 9 holes), bars, swimming pools, business centres, and a famous casino.

Rating: ?? out of 10 (I didn't use them)

CONCLUSION

It's quite obvious but I can't write much about this deserved 5-star hotel (May be I'm good at complaining). But I want to emphases that if you think you deserve a luxury, you'll get it here. I'll gladly recommend this hotel for every one who can pay for its rate that this is a MUST-TO for you in Estoril, Lisbon.

Rating: 10 out of 10 - A truly deserved 5-star hotel of my type (for what I've experienced)

Thanks for reading and wish you a happy new year
