Palazzo Rimondi, Rethymnon

Advantages: Amazing views of Rethymnon and the surrounding area, fantastic historical site.
Disadvantages: Can become very hot so dont recommend a midday trip!

...The Venetian Fortezza sits high up in Rethymnon and can be seen from all over the town. Its height means once you are there you have the most amazing views of the town and surrounding area. It also stands tall over the harbour and you can watch the many boats coming and going and admire the famous lighthouse. One in the Fortezza you can wander around the baron landscape and really get a feel for what it would have been like all those years ago. There is little shade so i advise a trip in cooler weather as it can become unbearable in the midday heat. In the centre of the Fortezza there is the smallest chapel i have ever seen and you can go in but only 2 at a time!!! It is amazing to see! Advantages: Food, kids club, family orientated, quiet resort, beach.
Disadvantages: Off the beaten track, nothing else around

...We stayed at the Louis Palazzo di zante for 2 weeks in August 2007 as a family of 4. It is in the resort of Vasilikos in south eastern zante and is situated together with its 2 sister hotels the Imperial and Royal overlooking the local beach with a lift from the Imperial down to the beach which is a godsend for those with kids. The Louis Palazzo di zante is a family orientated hotel with a venetian style canal within the complex with all the rroms overlooking it. We thought you could swim in it as others did we spoke to. When we got there we found it was a design ornamental feature only about 9 inches deep but very attractive. The room we stayed in was a family room consisting of 2 bedrooms and a bathroom and balcony. The bathroom is clean with toilet shower over the bath and basin. Advantages: Beautiful Pallazzo - total luxury
Disadvantages: Not a lot to do but relax!

..., although we did get lots numerous times. The newer part of Fiuggi is a spa town, the waters are apparently renowned for their health-giving properties. This means that the town can be quite touristy, making it all the more special to retire to the peaceful palazzo. All in all, this is an amazing hotel in a beautiful location. I will certainly be going back, however I think I may have to save up a bit first! Prices this summer are 160 euros for a standard room and 260 euros for a delux, however these are promotional rates and are obviously subject to change.... Read review
