Advantages: Gorgeous, quiet and un-touched beaches, some great properties Disadvantages: Very expensive, not much to do for the day tripper
Mustique is a 1,400 acre island located in the Southern Caribbean. This private island is owned and operated by the Mustique Company. This is an organisation which comprises of shareholders from 17 countries whose aim is to preserve the natural beauty and tranquility of the island.
We flew direct to Mustique from StVincent and I understand there are flights from other East Caribbean Islands including St Lucia and Grenada. The airport in Mustique is tiny and comprises of nothing more than a couple of small concrete runways and a wooden shack. This airport cannot cope with large aircraft and the only way of landing on this island is in very small charter planes and helicopter. Our flight to Mustique was on a plane that could carry 7 passengers and during landing we nearly overshot the runway. Despite its size Mustique airport is ...

St. Vincent and the Grenadines (?SVG?) is located in the Windward Islands at the lower end of the Caribbean chain. SVG is situated between Grenada 75 miles to the south, St. Lucia 24 miles to the north and Barbados 150 miles to the east. SVG has a tropical climate that is influenced by the North East trade winds, resulting in a minimum temperature of around 28 degrees centigrade, and boy does it get hot in the summer months. StVincent is often referred to as the ?Jewel of the Caribbean? and once you get on the island and do a bit of exploring it is easy to see why.

Advantages: Very picturesque, nice plunge pool to swim in, plenty of diving in points Disadvantages: Not as big or impressive as I was expecting
The Falls of Baleine are located on the North West side of StVincent and can only be reached by boat, therefore for tourists that don?t know anyone on the island the only way to get there is to go on an organised tour. A lack of tourists on the island will mean that getting a tour is not as easy as it is in other holiday destinations, where you are touted everywhere. In StVincent it is the tourist that has to do all the hard work and actively seek out excursions because the tour operators/locals will not come to you. Whilst you will pay for the boat trip to the falls, entry is absolutely free and other than any other tourists that may be present you will be on your own.
We managed to catch a boat from India Bay and the trip to the falls took around thirty five minutes. Given the size of StVincent the trip to the falls will be ...
