Advantages: Very cheap Disadvantages: Snow conditions not great at extremes of season

When we were there however i learnt that cheap can be very good. We stayed in the perelik hotel which was fairly standard accomodation but ... ...in our rooms was fine. The skiing is good for beginners and intermediates, i consider myself to be an intermediate skiier and i was fully satisfied, by the end of the week i had ski-ed most runs apart from the dangerous looking 'wall' but including other black runs. When we were there however i learnt that cheap can be very good. We stayed in the perelik hotel which was fairly standard accomodation but comfortable enough and as we spent hardly any time actually in our rooms was fine. The skiing is good for beginners and intermediates, i consider myself to be an intermediate skiier and i was fully satisfied, by the end of the week i had ski-ed most runs apart from the dangerous looking 'wall' but including other black runs. I was with some more advanced skiiers who by the end of the week had exausted most of the runs, but had fun none the less and it was their second visit to the resort. The snow conditions could have been better however, by the end of the week especially the snow was thinning and in many places on the lower slopes ice was showing through.
The lifts are old but adequate, although i would not recommend the lifts on the higher slopes for those with young children as many are single person open chairs.
The beginners in the group got the most out of the holiday skiing wise as they found their tuition to a very high standard and by the end of the week many of the skiers in our group at a lower level of skill were joining us on the higher slopes and red runs.
The evening entertainments for us included mostly going to bars, mostly the BJ's bar in the base of the hotel which offered great drinks at low prices, although i do say avoid the shots menu at only 30p a shot, quite dangerous to an unsupecting person handing over the equivalent of about £10 and managing to get an entire group of 8 blokes a little more than merry!
Advantages: Cheap, good fun and plenty of easy runs Disadvantages: Poor snow record and dodgy food
I visited Pamporovo on my third ski-ing holiday. I had previously been to Italy and one of the top resorts in France. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the teaching methods in Bulgaria were much better than the methods I had previously encountered. Also, and this is a very big plus, on the third day of the holiday other members in the group who had not previously been ski-ing found themselves ski-ing down from the very top of the mountain. ... ...Generally, the holiday was excellent, the hotels were very good, I stayed in the Perelik Hotel which is joined to the Mourgavetz Hotel by underground walkway, the hotels boast seven bars, cafe, swimming pool (with green water) and plenty of shops. Entertainment is put on nightly and there is a bowling alley. The food is not the best, but you help yourself from a fairly large selection of choices so you can usually find something that you like.
The ...

Just come back from Pamporovo and stayed at Hotel Pamporovo. Its a 5 star hotel which is a 3 star in UK. From the outside looks lovely, Our room was i mix up and only way to get a room we paid for was through the rep. When we told the reception they gave us a single for 2 people they said that's all they had left. We then told the rep and she got in changed a couple of days later. The rooms are nice and big and bathroom are nice. You get a TV in ... ...the bathroom you have a bath and a shower. (over bath).
There are 6 floors with 3 different lifts to use but also stairs if you wanted to use them. The food was horrible, First day was nice with always a choice of salad and soup, meat chips and vegatbles. The breakfast is horrible with a choice of beans which were like bullets, so hard you couldn't eat them, the bacon looked like it was just undercooked pieces of rectangle fat. The toast took 10-15 ...

Advantages: Cheap place for alcohol Disadvantages: Dirty, Unsafe, Awful food, Awful Locals, Expensive taxis, Tacky
I have just returned from a skiing holiday in Pamporovo, Bulgaria. Where to begin, on entering Plovdiv Airport, the loos were something out of a trainspotting scene. Absolutely filthy, we boarded our ancient bus which drove (at death defying speed) up the mountain, swerving from one side of the road to another. Our hotel was clean but basic, not impressed considering it as a 4 star.
Our first day on the slopes was a joke, rather than snow there ... ...Our instructor was bored and only taught us one hour before demanding to be paid. The chair lifts at the resort frequently broke down, and the slopes had no snow patrol to ensure safety of the skiiers. On our second day, there was no snow fall, so instead of starting on the Green beginers slope, we were led up the Blue intermediate slope by our guide. Not impressed.
The food was beyond awful, mostly raw chunks of mysterious meat, covered with a ...

Advantages: cheap Disadvantages: snows ok for beginners but you have to have snow to ski
I visited Pamporova for my first ever ski trip and found it to be a very good place to learn at a reasonable price. When i arrived i found that accomadation wasnt exactly great but it but livable but it was near the bar so nobody moaned. I was in a party of 5 3 guys and 2 girls so we managed to get separate lodges so we had a lads place lol. The first day was nervous iv never been skiing before i didnt know if what i had bought would be suitable ... ...I got my skis and headed off to ski school and managed to slip and land on my arse even before i got on the skis.
Ski school was mainly about teaching you how to land and fall and control the skis and how you turn after about a morning we managed to work our way onto a training slope and there the fun began. The slower you go the harder it is which is really funny cos you can go really fast but you need control.
After we had learned the controls ...

Advantages: Very good food and decent skiing Disadvantages:
...which is learned to ski. Pamporovo is a great place for beginners of all ages to go to. Although the initial slopes are quite steep the snow is usually very good, however you do as normal get the odd patches of ice. The weather when we where there was great although slightly cold it was still very sunny and we all came back with a degree of sunburn. The food in the hotels and restaurants around the area are excellent and should be definitely visited. ... ...away from the main ski slopes the transport to get to the slopes was excellent. The people we found where very friendly and happy to help in any way.
The ski schools were very helpful and friendly making everyone feel at home and comfortable, and the ski routes where very good with a good range from beginners to experts. ...

Advantages: luxury hotel, good service, swiming pool Disadvantages: the hotel is far from the slopes and the rest of the resort
Hotel Belmont is in Pamporovo ski resort, Bulgaria.
Pamporovo is a ski resort in the heart of the Rhodopi Mountain, 260 km from the capital Sofia, 85 km south of Plovdiv and 15 km from Smolyan. The resort altitude is 1 650 m, with its highest peak being Snezhanka ? 1 926 m.
I was in Hotel Belmont in the winter of 2008. The Christmas event for our company took place there and that was my chance to see the Hotel.
Hotel Belmont is really very luxury.... and expensive. You must be ready that everything is expensive there - even the ordinary tea. It is luxury but cozy at the same time. You feel well and you may relax and enjoy your ski vacation.
There is a nice swimming pool in the Hotel. The water in the swimming pool is warm and this is the best relax after the ski. You may continue with your physical activity in the Fitness ...
Advantages: Value for money Disadvantages: Unchallenging for advanced skiers; poor food
The accent in Pamporovo is on value and lack of pretentiousness, ideal if you are taking a first-ever ski trip or are on a tight budget. Pamporovo itself is a compact resort – the free ski-buses run from the centre to the ski-school at Malina – fortunately just a ten-minute ride away, as whatever fuel they use is very smelly! Still, the ride through the forest is pretty. The ski-school and equipment depots are located at the nursery slopes, with the main lifts and snack cabins near at hand.
As for the instruction, I have (and have heard) nothing but praise. Where else can you find guaranteed English-language instruction from qualified graduates (fluent in several languages), for four hours a day, six days a week, plus a diploma party at the end of the week? What’s more, your instructor stays with you through lunch ...
Advantages: Good value, great hotel Disadvantages: poor rep, lost ski equipment
January. The web site was reasonably good, prices were OK and when I enquired the response was swift and polite
Ended up in Poland instead.
It was the following year I booked in October 2008 a week in the ski resort of Pamporovo, in Feb 2009. The deposit was low £50 and the balance became due early December. There was a credit card supplement of 2% or something around that mark
The total bill was under £700 for two rooms for a week in a 4 star hotel half board, including ski carriage, ski passes, taxes, transfers and single supplements
Checking was easy, pleasant and fast, my bags were taken on the desk the skis and equipment was checked in separately at a different window
The flight was OK, the crew pleasant enough, food was a barn with cheese or ham and tiny cup of coffee. The plane was obviously old, an Airbus 320 apparently most ...
