I visited Pamporovo on only my second skiing holiday in a party of 14 who all booked together. This brought the price of the holiday including half board accomodation, flights from gatwick, ski hire and lift passes down to only just over £200, so i before i went i wasnt expecting a great holiday.
When we were there however i learnt that cheap can be very good. We stayed in the perelik hotel which was fairly standard accomodation but comfortable enough and as we spent hardly any time actually in our rooms was fine. The skiing is good for beginners and intermediates, i consider myself to be an intermediate skiier and i was fully satisfied, by the end of the week i had ski-ed most runs apart from the dangerous looking 'wall' but including other black runs. I was with some more advanced skiiers who by the end of the week had exausted most of the runs, but had fun none the less and it was their second visit to the resort. The snow conditions could have been better however, by the end of the week especially the snow was thinning and in many places on the lower slopes ice was showing through.
The lifts are old but adequate, although i would not recommend the lifts on the higher slopes for those with young children as many are single person open chairs.
The beginners in the group got the most out of the holiday skiing wise as they found their tuition to a very high standard and by the end of the week many of the skiers in our group at a lower level of skill were joining us on the higher slopes and red runs.
The evening entertainments for us included mostly going to bars, mostly the BJ's bar in the base of the hotel which offered great drinks at low prices, although i do say avoid the shots menu at only 30p a shot, quite dangerous to an unsupecting person handing over the equivalent of about £10 and managing to get an entire group of 8 blokes a little more than merry!

I'd agree with Goldfishmemory on all points (see my report, under Travel, Europe) except that the price s/he quotes may be a little on the low side. Certainly, the skipacks are unbeatable, but they are an extra £90 on top of the usual flight/hotel price around £250 per person. Teletext probably has knock-down last minute deals, but beware the beginning/end of season is not snow-sure, and there are NO cannons in Pamporovo for snowmaking.

The title Pamporovo drew me to this opinion, I must admit I didnt know where it was excatly, but do now! £200 sounds very reasonable esp. as it includes ski instruction..I dont ski can't! but if Im brave enough its good to learn there are good value for money sking holidays to be had! thanks, great review! ciao!
