We had been in Venice for a three night stay. The first two nights we had eaten at Da Sandro which my sister-in-law will be doing a review on. Our problem was Da Sandro does not open on a Friday, so for our last night we needed to find somewhere else, and you do not want a bad experience on your last night do you.
We had just spent a pleasant 75 mins at a Jazz Session in the prison attached to the Doges Palace. From there we wandered to BAR MARCA which is next to the Realto Market, get of the Realto Marcardo Vaperroto stop and you can not miss it. Here we joined the throng of humanity who know of this Hole in The Wall bar, Fritz, Campari and Soda or excellent range of wines all about 2 euros a glass.
NOW WHERE WE EAT I hear from the other three Fountains.
Trust my nose I say.
So we wander, at this point I apologise I did not get the Address, but I am sure if you ask a local they will point the way.
After leaving BAR MARCA with the Realto Bridge at your back walk away, you will come to a little turning with about 3 restaurants, bear right then left and continue about 150 yards.
Just as it seems there was nothing, I saw a few tables on the left, we approched the name of the place PANA E VINO (Bread & Wine), with Easter coming up the name seemed right.
A quick look at the Menu prices seemed OK.
So in we went, you enter into a small Bar, and smiles from a very friendly staff, two guys and one girl.
To the left a small room with about 5 tables. "You want drinks or Food as well??", and were seated at an old wooden table.
We then had a meal that was good enough for the LAST NIGHT.
For starters (There were five of us, I forgot Mark Roz's Son who was with us) We had two portions of Tuscan Bean soup you could stand your spoon up in. Two Lasagna starters, just right. and Rob had Capriese Salad, a fine job.
Bit boring for mains I am afraid, three Very tasty Pizzas, A Ham Hock wonderfully tender, a main Lasagna . The menu also included Fish and Roast Duck Hock.
Deserts what else but Tiramisu (very light and home made.) The house wine was a fine red, one of the best we had had. Glasses of good Italian Beer, water and a round of Grappa and Limincello.
Bill 140 Euros with tip, not bad.
Would we go again, you bet, wonderful little place with great staff.
Following a little bit of banter about Engish Men as lovers they even presented my brother with a Condom, you dont get that at Florians.
And oh yes for you ladies THE TOILETS WERE IMMACULATE.

I hope he didn't mistake the condom for an after-dinner mint!
