Advantages: Interesting things to see, very attractive part of Linz Disadvantages: None
Due to the bad weather in January 2010, we were forced to slightly change our travel plans, and instead of going to Slovenia via Graz, we flew to another Austria city, Linz. Desperate to get to our home in Slovenia, we didn?t want to spend too much time in Linz, but did spare a few hours to get a feel for the place.
At the heart of Linz is the Hauptplatz, the main square. As well as serving the very useful but mundane task of being a mini transport hub, the Hauptplatz is surrounded by lots of handsome Baroque buildings, several of which are now restaurants and cafes which, in summer, move out onto the square, making a brilliant place, I should think, to watch life go by. Linz?s main tourist information office is also on the square.
It?s very easy to find the Hauptplatz which is the very centre of the Innenstadt. It ...
Advantages: Good location for sights, cheapest in town Disadvantages: TV not working, needs a lick of paint, should be a bit cheaper, restricted check in
Due to the recent bad weather we missed our flight from Stansted to Graz and ended up flying to another Austrian city instead. Fortunately we had trudged through the snow the previous evening to my parents? home to collect an Amazon delivery that included the latest Lonely Planet Guide to Austria so when we had decided on using Linz as an alternative route into Slovenia, we were at least able to have a couple of ideas for accommodation. We?d be arriving late afternoon and did not want to have to traipse the streets looking for somewhere suitable as the weather was bad and worse was forecast.
The bus from Linz Airport deposited us at the Hauptbahnhof (main train station) and tempting as it was to simply cross the road and check into the IBIS, we decided to try the hostel listed in the guidebook which was over ?20 cheaper ? a stay in ...
Advantages: Great vocals, Ballads Disadvantages: Wrong Beats?
**Introduction**
Joe Thomas is one of the longest standing R&B singers around at the moment, having released eight albums to date since his debut album "Everything" in 1993. I saw him live at Hammersmith Apollo on 11th April 2007 with Boyz II Men and Brian McKnight and I am due to see him live again at Bristol's 02 Academy on Friday with Ginuwine. I thought it would be a great opportunity to review his latest album which was only released on 21st September 2009 in the United Kingdom.
**Signature**
This is the second independent release from Joe after he signed with Kedar entertainment. The album features Joe's usual mix of smooth love ballads and up tempo tracks. The album features production as usual from Joe himself but also includes production credits from Kedar Massenburg who also owns the record label that Joe Thomas is signed ...
Between the mid-1400s and 1975, this dignified-looking building was an Ursuline convent. In 1999, one of the town's hippest restaurants opened within its historic premises. Today you'll find a busy American-style bar area near the entrance, with margaritas selling for 7? ($8.40) each and a trio of New Orleans-inspired dining rooms filled with chattering diners and the smell of spicy Cajun and Creole cuisine. Come here for a reminder of some of the restaurant themes you left behind in the U.S. and for the possibility of meeting a local at the bar. Savory menu items include jambalaya, gumbos and stews, jerk chicken and pork, and, when it's available, spicy preparations of fish that include catfish. There's live music virtually every night -- pianos, guitars, and jazz trios -- beginning between 7 and 10pm, depending on the night's schedule.
