Cyprus in January, what can you expect? I expected a place a little warmer than the UK with nothing open and full of SAGA holidays.
What I got was a nice 22 - 25 degrees sunshine all day, an endless supply of pubs and restaurants and a nice variety of age groups. We went to stay in Paphos and it was superb. The beaches are clean and food and beer cheap. Plenty of places to visit and an atmosphere that was pure fun.
Tomb of the Kings is a strange place, a load of ruined tombs, very eerie, but for 75p not a bad price. There are all sorts of places to visit if you know where to look. Visit the Tourist Information and they can provide tourist maps only highlighting the places of interest.
One piece of advice DO NOT TAKE THE GLASS BOTTOM BOAT RIDE from the harbour. It is awful, they charge you £7 for a look at some sand and a metal pole that they claim is a ship wreck. I am sure somewhere is a sign saying made in Taiwan. They claim to take you to fish farms, underwater caverns and an old shipwreck, we saw 1 fish, a rock resting on another (this was the cave)and the metal pole which sank in 1996, hardly old.
Its a great place, I'm going back, Keo the local beer is great and the local wines are a £1 a bottle.

I went to Aiya Napa last year in September and enjoyed myself thoroughly as it was absolutely beautiful. Didn't really go for the night life, more for the day time, and no we didn't do any of the glass bottom trips either!

Advantages: It is very friendly, drive on the Left hand side, and mostly speak English Disadvantages: You can't lay on the beaches in the winter, and the evenings are cold.
