Cyprus. This island's appeal, certainly to the British, is understandable. The scenery is stunning, with some glorious beaches, the nightlife is excellent and Cypriots even drive on the left and speak English. There are lots of historic sights where the remnants of many past civilizations can be seen and myths and legends abound. Nature lovers too can delight in the island's beauty - from the varied scenery of its coastline to the pine clad hills of the interior.
Paphos and it's relaxing pace centres around the charming old fishing harbour. Once the ancient capital of Cyprus, it boasts numerous little restaurants and bars. Paphos is a cultural centre with an abundance of interesting ancient sites, ruins and landmarks to be explored. Must see Aphrodite's rock, the house of Dionysos, the mosaics and the Tombs of the Kings.
Where did I stay? The Hotel Louis Phaethon Beach Club.
One of the best all inclusive holidays I have ever been on. This hotel offers very good value for your money. Great for kids too>
This 4 star hotel is about 45 min from paphos airport and a real must for all you activity nuts.
It has 422 rooms, 5 floors and 6 lifts.
Rooms have satellite TV, telephone, radio, hairdryer and balcony. Sea view rooms and single rooms are avaiable at a supplement. Maid service six times per week, towel and linen changed twice per week
Situated in a quiet setting 4.2km from paphos harbour on the eastern coast, this place offers an outdoor pool, indoor heated pool, a gym, table tennis, shooting, volleyball, keep fit and archery.(I must admit I did play tabletennis a couple of times).
If that wasn't enough, after all that activity you can relax in the sauna, steam room or whirlpool bath.(this was just heaven).
Dont worry about your kids. If they dont wish to join the mini club they can play in the games room or splash in their own swimming pool.
And remember any silly games you or your kids play during the day will end up with you getting called up on stage later in the nightclub. You have been warned''
The food what can I say. The best selection by far than any other holiday I have been in. Some think an all inclusive holiday means poor local drinks and lots of cheap food. Not this hotel. The local drinks where fab (I tried a few) and the food was excellent I tried a lot). A very wide choice every meal. No good for your figure.
The entertainment in the evening was very good, some time for the kids and adults, (I even got my husband to play bingo).
If you fancy a walk out go down to the harbour. It takes about an hour but the views on the way are great. I admit I took a taxi. There you will find loads of shops, little bars and cafes while sitting watching the world go by. The locals are very friendly and the local food is good.
The weather was in the 90's when we went but they say it can get quiet cool during our winter.
Prices range in different brochures but when searching around we found portland the best.
In short I would go back there any time and would say that if it's an action packed holiday with great food and drink at a good price, try this one.

A good and valid review for the year you stayed there, but,,,,,,, I lived there in 1988 for just over a year, loved the place. Went back in 99, 2001, and June this year (04) and since Cyprus joined the EU (May 04) prices have gone balistic, through the roof. Talking to brits living there, prices went up overnight. Wife, two teenage children and I went in June, budget of £100 a day, we ended up drawing money from the cash machine to top up. Such a shame we can't afford to go anymore, back to Playa Del Ingles on Gran Canaria, half the price.

hi, good op, I stayed at this hotel before it became all inclusive and I loved it there too. I have written my own op "Kefalos Beach Village" on Cyprus. Ali

To me this op is very helpful, as I have never heard of this place and you showed it from a personal angle and that is a true account. Thankyou, much better 2nd time around and good on you for always trying to better your ops instead of just moving on.

Advantages: It is very friendly, drive on the Left hand side, and mostly speak English Disadvantages: You can't lay on the beaches in the winter, and the evenings are cold.
