I have been visiting Cyprus since 1989...and it gets better very time.....once l step down off that plane l feel as l have come home.....We have stayed in a Hotel in Paphos a couple of times which was ideal as the grand children were with us. But as they have got older they now join us on an independent holiday... We have very good contacts there now....We have stayed in some wonderful villas on the beach...on the beach road. between the Tombs of the Kings and Coral bay....The last villa we had was right on beach...you could sit in pool and still look at the wonderful beach. The car hire company that we use..which we have used since 1989 are now great friends and will do anything to help us when we get there. There are lots of places way of the beaten track to see, like The last castle off Lara beach. a 4x4 is the ideal way to get there but if you drive with carefully it can be reached in a saloon car. You will be made very welcome by the owner, who loves his vistors and does some great meals and the view from there is spectacular. So much so we are now looking at Property to retire out there. Anyone who has not been to Cyprus before l fully recommend this site for good information. Akrotira has a wonderful beach called Ladies Mile... it is not far on the old Paphos road by the Currium take the first right after Curruim and drive towards Air Base The approach to ladies mile is over the salt flats , the beach is 7 miles long of beautiful sand level beach into the sea which makes it safe for children. There are two cafes on the beach and a few sun beds and unbrellas it can be a bit daunting to find but once there you can spend the day at the waters edge just soaking up paradise. Try also going further inland to the Pitsilla range of mountains spectacular views...and if you come across any small villages the locals give you a very warm welcome ...but they do speak much English.

Welcome to Ciao Jilly. Good start (it's never easy for anyone). I don't think there's a problem with giving out the e-mail address but most people will put a link in to a related site where people can get more information that wouldn't normally be in your review. Hope to see some more of your ops soon - Neil

Advantages: It is very friendly, drive on the Left hand side, and mostly speak English Disadvantages: You can't lay on the beaches in the winter, and the evenings are cold.
