We've just returned from two weeks in Peyia,a small village near Paphos, staying at the Villa Omafo Topio, Riza Gardens, Peyia. We were there for our eldest daughters wedding which was arranged by Cyprus Dream Weddings. We arrived late Saturday night, the heat was oppressive, but the lager cold. We made our way to Peyia in our hired Zafira and eventually found the villa, entering by the rear door as the front door didn't work! Inside, air con straight on and ready for a dip in our pool, lovely!. Sunday morning and time for a good look round. The villa was beautiful, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, 4 ring electric cooker with oven, portable tv(only Cypriot programmes), air con in every room but the kitchen and 3 bathrooms, everywhere spotless and very new. Then Monday arrived and no water, informed by a neighbour that this was because of building work higher up the hill, where new water pipes were being laid.Contacted villa owners who contradicted this, saying it was caused by a drought in Cyprus, the owners were in Derby, the neighbour in Peyia, who would you believe? Tuesday- no water, then some water, then none, then on again for the night, yippee ! Wednesday- water off, informed its off until Friday at 4pm, getting worried now because the wedding is at 5pm Friday and 30 guests want feeding watering etc.More contact with owners, told theres nothing they can do,maybe not, but they could have warned us, as this problem had been happening for months. We were told this by many expats who lived in Peyia but not the people who took our £1800 for two weeks rental. We most certainly would not have rented this villa had we known we were going to be on a building site with no water!!!! The wedding was extremely well organised by Lakis from Cyprus Dream Weddings and if anyone is thinking of getting married there, we recommend it highly. Included in the price, photos, dvd, honeymoon to Egypt, wedding cake etc etc, to be honest, for the cost, marvellous! We ventured into Paphos for the stag/hen night and found it very expensive, 4cyp pounds for a spirit and mixer in some bars but only 2 in others but we had a great time in bar street and all were admitted free of charge into a nightclub, can't remember the name tho!!! Can't tell you much about the sights 'cos we didn't have time to see any. Luckily this means we will have to return, as Cyprus is a beautiful place with great weather and great people a little expensive maybe, but worth it. Just beware if you are hiring a villa in the Riza Gardens area of Peyia, you may need plenty of deodorant!!!
It was written to warn people about renting in villa in the Riza Gardens area.
I would hate anyone to go through what we went through 'cos of a villa owner not being truthful.

Sorry for the low rate, but i didn't feel this review told me much about Paphos as a place to visit, which is what i'd be looking to read in trying to decide whether to go there or not. Tia. xxx

Advantages: It is very friendly, drive on the Left hand side, and mostly speak English Disadvantages: You can't lay on the beaches in the winter, and the evenings are cold.
