Advantages: a calm town to live Disadvantages: nothing
---------------------------------------------- MY TOWN ----------------------------------
Caceres is the town where I live. It is a small town but it has got a lot of things, museums and churches to visit, cinemas and leisure centres to have fun, gardens and nice streets to walk, shops to buy from clothes to presents....
SITUATION AND SOME INFORMATION
I will start by the beginning. Caceres is situated in Extremadura, in the south-west of Spain. It has got nearly 100.000 inhabitants. It limits with Salamanca and Avila in the north, Toledo in the east, Badajoz in the south and Portugal in the west. It is a medium-small town, you can go walking to the centre if you live in the outskirts of the city, it takes about half an hour aproximately.
Caceres city is divided in two parts: the old part built between the XII and XVI ...

and it used to be the main gate into the Old city. Re-built by the famous Manuel de Larra Churriguera (who created its own style, Churrigueresco style), the Arch shows the heraldic of the city and it holds the Virgin of the Star, a stone little figure (Virgen de la Estrella) next to a little star-shaped light lamp. When visiting the city this is one of the most charming places to see, and also a little bit frightening at night?
SANTA MARIA is the Co cathedral of Caceres (sharing title with the city of Coria and its own co cathedral : ). It was built following Romanic style around the XV century. It is situated in Santa Maria square, next to San Jorge square.

Queridos Amigos!
Dear Friends!
When travelling in Spain you might have passed some plain signposts with the word "Parador" on it and always wanted to figure out where it leads to. Well, you are advised to give it a try if you have ever had the desire to bed your worn body not in a standard hotel room, but ? for a change - in a former monk´s cell, in an elegant mansion of a proud Andalusian count, in a knight´s chamber of a castle or even in a dormitory of a magnificent moorish palace.
Since 1928 some 82 former palaces, castles and mansions in the most interesting towns all over Spain - from Aiguablava on the Costa Brava to Ayamonte on the Costa de la Luz, from Ferrol in Galicia to the Morroccan enclave Ceuta just across Gibraltar - have been restored and modernized to meet the the high demands of today´s pretentious travellers ...

Manufacturer's product description
The ancient Torreorgaz Palace is built on Arabic foundations with a linteled door and a Baroque coat of arms. It is in the heart of the Cáceres’s old town and artistic centre, which has been declared a World Heritage Site. This 14th Century Parador, overlooked by its narrow tower, was founded by Diego García de Ulloa, knight of the Order of Santiago. Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles are reflected in the building and its surroundings. Its internal courtyard, cobbled exterior, exposed wooden beams, and the lounge’s original mantelpiece make up the hotel’s interior decoration. The bedrooms, decorated in soft shades of cream are tasteful, spacious and comfortable. Iberian pork loin with Casar cheese and rosemary roast goat, are typical dishes of the varied Extremaduran cuisine.
