Advantages: Singapore Slings History of Raffles
Disadvantages:

...A must visit when you go to Singapore is the Raffles Hotel. If you are loaded you may actually like to stay in one of the classic colonial rooms, however, if you aren't in the money like me then just visit the long bar. In the long bar you can sip delicious Singapore Slings ( at about £7 a glass) and eat monkey nuts to your hearts content. The long bar is the only place in Singapore where you are allowed to 'litter' so the tradition is to eat monkey nuts and throw the shells on the floor! Beware Singapore Slings are much more alcoholic than they taste! Remember to look about the hotel before you get too drunk, there is a museum in the hotel and the history about Raffles is everywhere. Advantages: Great location, good facilities and service; and comfortable rooms!
Disadvantages: A bit of a walk to the closest MRT (City Hall)

...Centrally loacted, the hotel is very close to numerous recreational and commercial places. In fact, Pan Pacific Singapore is within walking distance of many of Singapore's historic landmarks, such as the Padang, stage to some of the most significant national events, the Cenotaph and the commemorative landing site of Sir Stamford Raffles - founder of modern Singapore. It is also close to Singapore's historic, cultural and entertainment areas, such as CHIJMES, the Boat Quay, Clarke Quay, Robertson Walk and the new Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay. The hotel is also connected to Millenia Walk and Suntec City shopping complexes. You must try the Hai Tien Lo for exquisite Cantonese, Keyaki Japanese restaurant for authentic Japanese food. Advantages: Lots to see and do

...Singapore is a fantastic city to visit. There is so much to see, do, buy and experience that it can be difficult to fit it all in! The Chinese market is a trip not to miss, particularly at night when all the stalls and surrounding shops are lit up. The range of items to buy here is incredible, and if you’re looking for a tacky present for a ‘loved’ one, this is the place to buy it! One of the organised day trips that I went on whilst in Singapore was a trip that incorporates the Singapore Museum and Raffles Hotel. The Singapore Museum and coach trip around Singapore were okay, but the visit to Raffles Hotel made the whole day worth it. You get a tour of the hotel, which isn’t all that exciting, but you get to experience ‘High Tea’.
