Advantages: Quiet, mostly unspoilt, beautiful scenery, clean beaches, very friendly people Disadvantages: If you are a shopper or looking for an 18-30 holiday probably not the best island to go to.
.... It was a very relaxing base for a holiday with an excellent bus service that we availed of daily. It was only a 10 minute trip into the centre of the old capital of Menorca - Ciutadella. From here you could get a bus to anywhere else on the island. The buses are cheap, clean and air conditioned.
Ciutadella is full of history, with wonderful architecture dating back 800 years. The main square, the Plaza des Born,is dominated by an obelisk which commemorates the defence of the city in 1558 when it was attacked by the Moors. It is a great landmark if you happen to get lost in the maze of small streets.
There are many fine examples of architecture including the Cathedral in the Plaza de Pio XII which was completed in 1362. The Diocesan Museum (Street of the Seminar), the Municipal Museum of Bastió de Sa Font, the nuns' convent of Santa Clara...

Advantages: the real africa, hardly a tourist destination Disadvantages: political and ethnical instability, rough travelling
...in Abidjan, the capital, you need to be extremely carefull, this is one of the most dangerous cities in Africa. Don't wear jewellerie or camera's, don't go strolling after dark and stay away from Treichville and the harbours, if the dog don't bite, the cat will, police is completely corrupt in this city. beautifull places to visit are Grand Bassam (large tourist market), Parc national dela Marahoue, T'ai national parc, the Basilique de notre dame dela paix in yamoussoukro
the beautifull traditional village Biankouma and the forests surrounding it. You could relax in hotel La Terasse, owned by german Marko, and overlooking the village Sassandra, the river, the ocean, the beach and the fishing pirogues. You can travel up a river by pirogue and see hippo's, monkeys, snakes, antelope, crocodiles, fish eagles, hornbills etc.
Try to eat out...

Advantages: Great alternative to Disney Disadvantages: You get VERY wet when it rains!!

The queue for this was approx. 25 minutes. As this is my favourite type of roller coaster, I unsurprisingly loved it. If the queue hadn't got longer as the day wore on I'd have liked to go on this again.
La Trace du Hourra was by far my favourite ride at Parc Asterix. It is very hard to describe as it is like no other ride I have been on or seen elsewhere. You sit in two's in a line of four - the 'track' is like a bobsleigh track so you coast down at 60km an hour. Given how difficult it is to describe, it may be best to go to the official Parc Asterix website to see a picture! I would love to go on this ride again - it was totally fantastic.
Finally, the Tonnerre De...
