First Term At Malory Towers : Give this to your little girls!

Advantages: Very readable, enjoyable, imaginative, contains some sensible & good philosophies
Disadvantages: The modern versions of the books are altered to make them politically correct

The set of Malory Towers books was written by Enid Blyton during the post-WW2 part of the 1940s?.I think the final one may have spilled over into 1950. They tell the story of pupil Darrel Rivers? time at the school, from her very first day as a 13-year-old, through to her last, when she leaves at age 18. I read my first Enid Blyton Malory Towers book when I was aged about 9. We?d had a bring & buy sale at my primary school as an end of term activity, and I managed to cop a paperback edition of the 3rd book in the series for the grand sum of one old halfpenny! Later in the evening when at home and in bed (I was supposed to be asleep), I began to read Third Year At Malory Towers, and just couldn?t put the book down ? I read it from cover to cover that night, in secret by torchlight under the blankets, and the next day my mother ...

Review of First Term at Malory Towers - Enid Blyton

Grand Hotel Excelsior

Advantages: Beautiful View
Disadvantages: Apalling food

As anyone who has read my early reviews knows- I love Italy! I've been going there now for the past ten years with my parents, and for the first time last year I made my own way there with the boyfriend for a nice Italian holiday. The Grand Hotel Excelsior was my residence for numerous weeks holiday, and it certainly not one for the faint hearted! In the Thompson guide book it is described as 'quaint' which to put it politely is rather an understatement. One thing that can be said for it is it is completely oozing with Italian charm. ARRIVAL/ LOCATION If you book with Thompson as we did (though other tour operators go to the same location) flights go from Manchester Airport on a Friday morning, taking just over 2 and a half hours to get to Naples International Airport. From Naples the coastal resort of Amalfi is approximately ...

Review of Excelsior Grand Hotel, Amalfi

MGM Grand Hotel - Las Vegas

Advantages: 4/5 star, great price, good gambling and atmosphere
Disadvantages: The Lion enclosure

My husband and I have just gotten back from a trip to Las Vegas and chose the MGM hotel to stay at so this forms my review. The MGM is located right on the strip (Las Vegas Boulevard) right by Tropicana Avenue so fairly near one end of the strip. It is located close to the New York New York hotel and there is actually a walkway which joins the two hotels to give you easy access to both. The hotel in its present form was opened at the end of 1993. Most of the hotels in Las Vegas have a certain them that they like to promote through each of their casinos such at NY NY, Paris, The Venetian etc. The MGM in my opinion is not as heavily themed as the other hotels but follows along the lines of old Hollywood/California movies stars etc with the feature of the MGM lion and movie star photos in the bedrooms. When the MGM first opened it had ...
