Disneyland Paris Brilliant
Review of Disneyland, Paris, Paris by warrenlewis

Advantages: Everything in one place
Disadvantages: Check any pre booked tickets before travel

We have just returned from Disneyland Paris and we had a wonderful time. Everything was just as you expect it to be. One word of caution we travelled with Leger coach holidays and we pre booked the Buffalo Bills Rodeo show. We were told we could not pre book the dates for the show, we were told to book the date we wanted on arrival at our hotel. On our arrival we were given tickets and told when we had to go to the show, ultimately we missed the ...
...and Leger Holidays, we are now in a position that we have had to contact ABTA to look into this on our behalf, as Leger have totally washed their hands of the whole affair. Just beware if youpre book any shows check dates and times on tickets as Disney have nothing to do with these transactions. ... Read review

Arc du Triomphe - nice view
Review of Arc de Triomphe by beanie8844

Advantages: quite cheap, panoramic views of Paris, interesting attraction
Disadvantages: v.busy,

...views over Paris and the Arc de Triomphe is no exception. It is one of the most famous monuments in Paris and fronts many postcards. The Arc de Triomphe is at the western end of the Champs-Elysees; a sight in itself. The arch is a tribute of respect to those that have fought for France, particularly during the Napoleonic wars. It was designed by Jean Chalgrin in 1806; his work was taken on by Huyon in 1811 when Chalgrin sadly died. However, the monument ...
...Arc stands at 165ft tall, 148ft wide and 72ft deep, the design inspred by the Roman Arch of Titus. It has been unchanged for many years now but has to be occasionally jet washed to remove dirt and discolouration. Visitor access is via a pedestrian tunnel which goes under the dangerous roundabout. Once inside the Arc de Triomphe you are left with a choice - do you walk the 284 steps to the top or do you get the lift and walk just the final 46. Being ... Read review

Musee du Louvre
Review of Musée du Louvre by pricey1980

Advantages: Only place to see the Mona Lisa
Disadvantages: Very busy all the time

Musee du Louvre (Louvre Museum) Background The Louvre is the most visited and one of the oldest, largest and most famous art galleries and museums in the world. The first royal “Castle of the Louvre” was founded in what was then the western edge of Paris by Philip Augustus in 1190, as a fortified royal palace to defend Paris on its west against Plantagenet attacks. The first building in the existing Louvre was begun in 1535, after demolition of ...
...an exhibition). The architect Pierre Lescot introduced to Paris the new design vocabulary of the Renaissance, which had been developed in the chateaux of the Loire. During his reign (1589 – 1610), King Henry IV added the Grande Galerie. Henry IV, a promoter of the arts, invited hundreds of artists and craftsmen to live and work on the building’s lower floors. This huge addition was built along the bank of the River Seine and at the time was the ... Read review

Poor Man's Disney: Taking Young Children
Review of Disneyland Paris by Lizamabug

Advantages: Enough to entertain all ages for a couple of days
Disadvantages: The prices inside the gates are shocking

GETTING STARTED Disneyland Paris, as most people will already know, is a smaller version of Florida's Disney World and is situated a short journey from Paris in the French countryside. Adult ticket prices start from £32 for a one day, one park ticket which isn't unreasonable but do be aware that you will have to be greatly inflated prices for food and drink once inside the gates. Note that until March 2008 - kids under 7 can stay and play for free; ...
...experiences you can go to Disneyland for; as a couple looking to ride the roller coasters or enjoy some magical romance, as a family wanting to spend time together, or with young children hoping to offer them a fantastical experience. Although I've been to Disney World Florida as both a family and a couple, I've only been to Disneyland Paris as a parent to a young child so that's the experience I feel qualified to talk about here. Consider this a ... Read review

Even the rain couldn't stop the fun
Review of Parc Asterix, Paris by jo28501

Advantages: Great alternative to Disney
Disadvantages: You get VERY wet when it rains!!

...adults) decided to also visit Parc Asterix. On our final day we were flying back to England from CDG at 10pm - this was perfect for Parc Asterix as you can catch a bus from the airport straight to the park. It was about a 10 minute bus ride - we bought our tickets at the station as they did a combined bus and park entrance for 35E. Upon entering the park, the weather was glorious. It looked as if it would be another scorcher like the previous 3 days ...
...worth mentioning we went to Parc Asterix on a Saturday. I think this greatly affected the number of people in the park. It was very busy (even compared to Disney). Also, as it was an off peak time of year Parc Asterix is only open on a Wednsday, Saturday and Sunday (to coincide with French schools). After getting in the park we headed towards La Descente du Styx. This is a water rapids style ride. The "boat" holds up to 8 people and you get pretty ... Read review
