    I have been considering writing a review of Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) for some time but have refrained; worried that it may be biased by factors outside of the airports hands. However, having had an 'unforgettable' trip through the airport on a day trip a couple of weeks ago, I felt it was time to put down my opinions! CDG is one of a group of airports around the capital city of France, along with Orly, Le Bourget and Beavaus, but is the most likely point of origin for travellers from the UK.     Advantages Advantages Can get to just about anywhere from here. Loads of shops.

    I have read a few of the previous ops about this Airport and I feel they are a little harsh. Yes the airport is unfeasibly large - it's really like a town - and yes, it's busy, but I don't agree that it's difficult to find your way around there. AS LONG AS YOU PAY ATTENTION AND HAVE A REASONABLY IDEA OF WHERE YOU WANT TO GET TO. We experienced Charles de Gaulle in Oct 2002. We are a family of 5 and had flown into CDG from Luton and we were taking the TGV train out of CDG to Poitiers to visit my parents.     An interesting point to note is that Charles De Gaulle was quite well known for his dislike of the English!:) Anyway, jokes aside, I flew to this airport last summer for a short holiday at Disneyland Paris (I have placed a flight review under 'BMI Baby') and, like at most airports, the experience was not pleasant! CHECK-IN For the return leg of the journey was somewhat confusing. The check-in hall is vast and, like most of the airport, seems to work in a sort of circle.     Having never been in Charles de Gaulle airport before & expecting it to be like most other airports, my family & I looked forward to our new experience. We flew from Belfast International Airport – Aldergrove, to London Heathrow & then transferred to our flight to Charles de Gaulle. Our flights with British Midlands International were all on time & rather uneventful, which was nice & we arrived at Charles de Gaulle on time.     Disadvantages Disadvantages Too difficult to navigate, not suitable for disabled, badly signposted, filthy toilets.

    Paris CDG is honestly the WORST airport I have ever visited. Getting around is a nightmare, security takes too long, the signage is bad, facilities are poor, prices are expensive and the staff surly and unhelpful. I have transferred on and off flights via Paris CDG many times whilst flying to and from the USA from Scotland. Here is a typical experience: We arrive by plane from Edinburgh and are taken by bus to the terminal. We then stand in a huge queue on a stairwell waiting for a bus to another terminal. Nearby TV screens don't appear to be working so nobody is sure which terminal they need ... more
