Having booked our holiday to Euro Disney, it was all we could think about for two weeks previous.Having a 4 year old daughter that relies on her wheelchair we made a point of checking that we could wheel her to the plane in the chair, ' yes sir' I was told by my travel agent, ' We have a lot of enquiries of this kind, and I can personally assure you that you will have no problems at all'
So off we went, we flew from Manchester airport for our 3 day adventure, we landed at Paris CD airport where we were met by a very cheery taxi driver.
We had an excellent 3 days and arrived at Paris CD airport for the homeward bound trip.
Upon arrival at the check in desk we were told 'sorry sir, you can not take the wheelchair on to the flight'after 5 minutes 'fighting' with the checkin assistant I spoke to the supervisor who told us that yes we could take the chair onto the flight. 'Great' and we went through to Passport control where we were told that we would have to dismantle the chair to pass it through the Xray machine, after much argument we decided that it was easier to dismatle the chair to save time.
So there we were, myself and my wife fighting to control our disabled daughter and dismantle the chair at the same time ( it was like a scene from a carry on film) after 10 minutes we were waved on our way by a cheery assistant.
We then fought to find a seat and wait for a flight, 5 minutes passed and we were called, 'That was quick' I said to the wife as we waited patiently in line to pass through the boarding process,we arrived at the desk a few minutes later where we were handed our passports and boarding cards and sent on our way, we set off, 'Oh my god' my wife said in horror. and then I saw what lie ahead of us, four flights of stairs to our awaiting bus. after 20 minutes we reached the bottom, completely exhausted from carrying 2 bags and a wheelchair down the flights of stairs, we entered the bus and fought our way through the doors to a mass of bodies.'here we go again' I thought.
After another 10 minutes we reached our awaiting plane where we were presented with another trip up the stairs.
In conclusion it is safe to say that I will be driving the next time we go to Euro Disney, which is what I would suggest and wheelchair bound person should do, if they intend to travel to Paris CD airport.
