● Remarkable Paris ●
Review of Paris in general by hyperbunny62

Advantages: beautiful sceneries, plenty of stations, good quality hotels, fancy food, great attractions.
Disadvantages: Expensive, The history of France isn't always appreciated.

● PARIS ( the place of love) has so many resplendent things about it and to be honest it is beyond words!.● ● Seven train stations are in Paris. Including: Gare Saint-Lazare, Gare du Nord, Gare de l'Est, Gare de Lyon, Gare Montparnasse && Gare d' Austerlitz. ● ● Two airports are situated top east and bottom east of Paris they are called: Aéroport de Roissy && Aeroport d'Orly.● ● There are lots of things ...
...The construction of Notre-Dame de Paris began in 1163 during the reign of Louis VII. The remarkable paintings, stained windows and lit up candles really enchances you day. ● ● The Avenue des Champs Elysées is the most famous street in Paris. This broad road starts at the Arc de Triomphe and continues straight to the Place de la Concorde. The street is lined with fashionable shops and restaurants and is a popular place for tourists. Cycling in Paris
Review of Getting around in Paris by blackpuddinonnabike

Advantages: Courteous drivers; Easy to use municipal hire scheme
Disadvantages: Sometimes velib 'stations' are full (or empty)

...not as a way of getting around). Add to this that it's virtually free (if you return the bike to a station within half an hour you pay nothing, after that it's €1 per half hour until it's being held onto for a long time when the price ramps up) and it becomes a very attractive option. There are problems, of course. Stations at the bottom of hills tend to fill up leaving nowhere to park your bike, while those higher up can stand empty. But the terminals ...
...stations are, and exactly how many bikes are currently parked there, or how many spaces are available for you to park. Meanwhile a van with a big trailer shuffles bikes about, and takes damaged bikes to the barge workshop which moves about the Seine. There has been talk of replication of this scheme (albeit on a smaller scale) in London. The Mayor, Ken Livingstone, seems determined on the issue. But it is perhaps a statement on the UK mentality ... Read review

Places to shop in Paris
Review of Josi - General shopping in Paris by Frenchyanj

Advantages: lots of areas to shop,
Disadvantages: but spread out and you need to know where to go

I have lived in Paris for 6 months and i understand that it may be difficult to shop in paris if you do not know where to go or if you are there for just the weekend. I must admit it took me a good month to find out where the good shops were! Buying the tickets: For starters i would definitely advise you to buy a metro ticket : there are different tickets available such as 1 ticket for 1 journey, a pass of 10 tickets , daily pass called mobili, ...
...passes are called a carte orange and you do need a photo to get it. if you are in paris for just the weekend then i would buy the daily pass for 3 zones (oh yes forgot to mention paris is split into 8 zones or so, but for shopping you only really need the first 3 zones). Places to go: Now that you have your tickets the areas to go or metro stops are the following : Chatelet/les halles: centre of paris where you can find a really long street called ... Read review

Value for money
Review of Department Stores by sailormn

Advantages: Value for money
Disadvantages: None

I went to Paris last year and to my amazement, things are cheaper than in UK. The fashion clothes for women were cheaper and more fashionable. Leather shoes and boots are equally good value for money and lots of sales in central Paris...my favourite city. I bought a pair of high leather boots for only 30 quids and loved it very much. To my disappointment, perfumes were not that cheap. I always thought that since most perfume are produced in Paris, ... Read review

Paris, the top ten do's and dont's
Review of Paris in general by wildybeast

Advantages: different cultures
Disadvantages: overpriced rip off merchants

Just come back from a long weekend in Paris, thought I would write a few do's and dont's Do Book a 3 or 5 day metro ticket. (£25 for 3 days approx) it may seem a lot but well worth it, no better way to get around Don't Buy a metro ticket if your disabled, wheelchair bound or unable to deal with stairs, lifts and escalators are non existent. Do Drink the wine, Is the cheaper option Don't buy Lager at £7 a pint in most places, you will just get ...
...Visit the Louvre on a monday, its the quietest time and queues are only about ten minutes after the initial rush Don't Visit the Eiffel Tower at the weekend either, queues are about 2 hours on average unless you like the stairs Do take time to find a nice restaurant ahead of time. Don't Find one on spec, especially if its raining, most restaurants are either really cramped for space, or full of discusting french smokers. There seems to be loads ... Read review
