I wouldn't want a "Holiday Inn" this hotel
Advantages: Good location Disadvantages: dull, dull, dull - and not cheap either
...in my room at the Holiday Inn in Paris St Germain de Pres I couldn't help but reflect that the designers drew heavily from that area of the colour palette best characterised by the term 'nicotine'. Not a popular colour card at the 'mix your own Dulux' decorator centre and with good reason. This is a Holiday Inn that's badly in need of refurbishment and I was rather relieved to only be there for the one night. My room was quite astonishingly drab ... ...Good job the Americans invented Holiday Inn so he can't hold that against the French. My colleague said he was jealous and would rather be in my shoes with Paris at my feet for the evening but I wasn't in any mood to take advantage of it. I was on my own, tired and I had work to do.
I pre-booked online at the Holiday Inn website which they always say is the cheapest way to book but it also means you have to pay in advance. I later found out that ...

Simply the Best!
Advantages: Staff, Location, Cleanliness Disadvantages: None
Hotel Residence Foch has it all: a quiet setting in a high-class residential neighborhood; a perfect location within walking distance of the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, the Metro, and tour buses; artful French decor in the well-appointed rooms; and a generous breakfast buffet to provide fuel for your day. But most of all, there is the staff. Nellie and her desk staff could not be nicer or more helpful, and someone is there 24/7 to take care ... ...to 5-star hotels from Rome to Chicago and if you need that level of amenities (gym, restaurant, etc.), this isn't for you. But if you're looking for unending charm, the warmth of a home away from home, peace and quiet, and incredible value, the Hotel Residence Foch cannot be beat. ...

Holiday Inn Republic, Paris, France
This is a big hotel near the centre of Paris, the website makes it look great, the façade and location are impressive, its got 4 stars, and loads of facilities BUT don’t go there unless you get a deal for £100 or less for two per night. The rack rate is an incredible 350 Euro’s.
Why is the hotel rubbish?
1 The rooms haven’t been refurbished since, 1985 ish
2 The bar (says on the website ... ...of the other 20 odd Holiday Inn full service hotels I’ve stayed in, how it manages 4 stars is beyond me. In fact the Holiday Inn Express’s I’ve stayed in are better than this place and half the price.
I stay in 100+ hotels every year and this is the worst value for money hotel I’ve been in.
PS It was probably the bar shutting at 11 that irked me the most, and I did actually get a drink served to me in the foyer of the hotel after there was a near ...

Effortless Parisian Relaxation
Advantages: Hotel Cat; Location; Comfort; Friendliness Disadvantages: No view
...visit I really wanted the hotel to live up to the promise of the city - and the Hotel Saint Paul Rive Gauche certainly did that.
Right from the welcome at reception we knew things would be relaxed here. The hotel cat, Sputnik, lounging on the reception desk summed up the feel. If anything my only gripe came at this point, and it was nothing to do with the cat (who was fantastic, though I do recognise not everyone would be so happy to see a moggy ... ...the breakfast offered by the hotel as we tended to head out early and grab a coffee in a local cafe...
The location of the hotel is superb, on the border line between St Germain and the Rive Gauche. 10-15 minutes walk from Notre Dame (and the excellent Shakespeare & Co), a shorter distance from the Luxembourg Gardens, a choice of metro stations, and with a wealth of great restaurants in the vicinity (most notably Polidor - two doors down from the ...

A Great Base for Exploring Paris
Advantages: Location, Price, Staff Disadvantages: Uphill walk
The Comfort Hotel Place Du Tertre is located in the Montmartre area of Paris and is a stone’s throw away from the Sacre Coeur church in one direction and the world famous Moulin Rouge cabaret club in the other. The nearest metro station is Blanche, which is on the blue (number two) line and connects straight to the main train station, Gard Du Nord, which makes it very easily accessible from the airport. From the metro station it is around a five ... ...bed and breakfast at the Comfort Hotel and I would say that this is about as good as you are going to get in terms of value for money. This hotel is no good if you expect luxury – as is always the case, you will have to pay through the roof for that. But as a cheap base for a short visit to this fascinating city, the Comfort Hotel Place du Tertre is an excellent choice. ...
