I stayed in this hotel from 19.12 till 22.12.2007 with two other adults. I have nothing negative to say about the hotel. We stayed in a triple bedroom with a double bed and a single bed. The single bed was a proper bed too and not one that can be folded down. The room was tidy and clean. Not very large but big enough for us. Not the 'Paris' experience I was expecting

Advantages: near to subway station and nice bakery
Disadvantages: dirty basic rooms, scary man in our room, generally rude staff

...hostels when I arrived at Hostel Richard. Nothing, however prepared me for the experience ahead of me. On arriving at about 10pm my friend and I found the front door to the hostel blocked shut from the inside with a chair. After knocking on the door a man let us in, and in my opinion was rather rude! Good Base for 'Swanning' around Paris

Advantages: Cheap, central
Disadvantages: Very small and very basic

..., I happened upon the Hotel du Cygne (or The Swan Hotel). A bit more research on Trip Advisor and it seemed this was about the best we were going to get for our budget. Review of Hotel Paris-Liege, Paris

Basic Parisian hotel... but a brilliant location.

Advantages: Close to some good shops, a good metro station and not far from the Eiffel Tower.
Disadvantages: Tiny room, paper thin walls (and I MEAN paper thin) and quite tired rooms.
