Luxury from the Sofitel
Advantages: Gorgeous rooms, nice facilities and great location Disadvantages: Price may be too much for those on a budget
...including the Mercure, Novotel and Sofitel and from the Sofitel chain this was one of them; Sofitel Le Faubourg.
The Hotel: The Sofitel Le Faubourg is a luxury hotel in the heart of the city centre. A four star hotel that has a variety of room types and an elegant style it has a range of amenities to suit every type of holiday maker. Location:
The Le Faubourg hotel has a brilliant location in terms of how of how central it is to the Champs Elysee ... ...are in all of the Sofitel hotels make the room luxurious and comfortable - in fact they are one of the most comfiest beds I have ever lay on and I just sank into it! The bathroom is equipped with Hermes products and bathrobes and with a range of amenities such as in room safes, air conditioning, flat screen TV, WIFI access and mini bar the room certainly has enough to keep guests happy. The room was really quiet even though on the front side of the ...

Attention to detail required
Advantages: World famous in the centre of Paris Disadvantages: Pricey
...word that best describes the hotel is “opulence”
High ceilings, luxurious drapes, grand proportions, beautiful furniture, quality all round. The bedrooms were spacious I think about 325 sq ft, there was an entrance vestibule, with bathroom to one side and bedroom straight on. PS I booked the standard hotel room 490 Euro’s per night.
The bedroom had a queen size bed, some fine silky cotton type sheets and was incredibly comfortable, mirrored wardrobes ... ...info re Paris and the hotel could be found (pity no one told us about this, we found out just before we left).
The bathroom was a good size, but not huge, double sinks with swan neck taps, large cream marble bath with shower (the shower didn’t work properly), slippers were provided as were bath robes (both were to small for me, I’m a 32 inch waist 42 inch chest with size 9.5 feet, not exactly Mr Large).
After a soak and a change of clothes we were ...

Thee best nights sleep of my life
Advantages: Location, surroundings, conciegerie, history Disadvantages: Price
...world. Not only has this hotel won a whole host of awards it also belongs to the prestigeous leading hotels of the world group who hand select only the finest hotels from around the globe as its members.
The question is where to start perhaps with her breathtaking marble lobby, the loyal and discreet conciegerie, or her exquisite bedrooms. Well infact I think the best place to start is her location. Sitting proudly in front of the world famous place ... ...The interior of the hotel is grand, but kept immaculate with an incredible attention to detail. The rooms and suites are intimate and provide every amitie one could desire from a spacious walk in wardrobe to a minbar stocked with the crillon family champagne.
Not surprisingly there is a price tag with such a hotel, but actually the crillon is by no means the most expensive room in Paris, prices start at $700 (£400) and when compared to the close ...

The George V - fit for a king?
Advantages: Fabulous location, beautiful rooms, great food Disadvantages: none
My stay at the George V Paris was just the lift I needed after a serious illness. From the minute my husband and I checked in, we were made to feel as if we were the only guests there. Of course we weren't ! We arrived just after the Cannes film festival and the place was crawling with film industry types, catching a few days R&R before jetting back to the states.
The room was beautiful, a huge bed - very comfortable and the door to the bathroom ... ...and mosaic with a tub for 2 and a wonderfully powerful shower. We took breakfast in the room every morning - the usual continental style affair, but tasting wonderful and presented well.
The concierge was extremely helpful - nothing was too much trouble, and the hospitality we felt was lovely.
Located just off the Champs Elysee with an abundance of taxis at the door, a Metro station at the end of the street, it is ideally placed for easy access ...

Not the 'Paris' experience I was expecting
Advantages: near to subway station and nice bakery Disadvantages: dirty basic rooms, scary man in our room, generally rude staff
...hostels when I arrived at Hostel Richard. Nothing, however prepared me for the experience ahead of me. On arriving at about 10pm my friend and I found the front door to the hostel blocked shut from the inside with a chair. After knocking on the door a man let us in, and in my opinion was rather rude! Throughout our check in he kept trying to look behind us to see the TV (which appeared to be showing some sort of porn!). The Hostel room was the dirtiest ... ...simply daren't visit the communal shower room! We used our sleeping bags as the sheets were dirty too.
On our last night we were due to leave early in the morning - about 4pm to catch an early train. We were awake and getting ready at about 3am, when our bedroom door was unlocked from the outside, and the man from our check in experience entered our room. Obviously we were quite shocked to find a man entering our room at 3am! He then said 'Sorry ...
