Wonderful and romantic Parisian hotel
Advantages: Situated in pedestrianised street, full of cafes and shop, near Louvre Disadvantages: None that I found
About a month ago my boyfriend suprised me with a trip to Paris! Lucky enough you might think - but the fact that we stayed at this hotel just made it all the better.
The hotel is situated on Rue de Montorgueil (No. 56), 75002 . When you first approach the hotel (about 20 mintues walk from the main train station) it seems quite easy to miss, surrounded as it is by cafes with their tables spilling out onto the otherwise quiet and pedestrianised street, ... ...stretches back far behind the street.
The lobby is small but very comfortable and beautifully clean and decorated, with dark wood and bright cream carpets. The reception staff are incredibly friendly. Everyone spoke English, but they also tolerated our poor excuse for French, and did everything possible to make us feel at home.
Breakfast is served in a seperate dining room to the back of the hotel, also beautifully decorated, with wooden floors, ...

Great little find in Paris- Hotel France Albion
Advantages: Fantastic location and large sized room! Disadvantages: Breakfast disappointing
...share my thoughts on this hotel in Paris where my best friend and I spent a long weekend. We chose the hotel for its location- close to shopping district and centre of Paris and we werent disappointed there. We were feeling confident about the hotel as we had had good communication with them before we left- we had changed dates and asked to leave our luggage in the hotel as we were arriving early.
We were not disappointed when we arrived- the outside ... ...at one time considering the hotel was quite busy.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again as the location can't be beat- metro stop 2 mins away and 15mins walk to galeries lafayette and opera district. the room cost us 119 euros per night with breakfast included. this was for a twin room, i think doubles are slightly cheaper.
the hotel has an excellent website
www.hotelfrancealbion.com which has an English section. ...

Elysees Opera/America Opera Hotel - Paris, France.
Advantages: Location, Room Size Disadvantages: Facilities offered were minimal.
...hotel. The hotel is named America Opera and Elysees Opera, i stayed in the Elysees Opera. I'm not sure as to why there are 2 names?
Location
The road of Rue de Turin was very easy to find. We got the Metro to the nearest stop, Rome, and we were provided with a small map illustrating the location. So we found the road and walked down it, only passing one hotel on the way down. This hotel was named The America Opera. However we had booked in ... ...(which said it was The America Opera) it said Elysees Opera. For some reason the hotel seems to be operating under 2 different names. So if you do decide to stay here, then make sure that you know what you are looking for.
It is very easy to get to from the Gare du Nord, as you just take the Blue line (Number 2) towards Port Dauphine and get off at either Place de Clichy or Rome. We used Rome as it was at the less busy end of Boulevard Des Batignoles ...

Not the 'Paris' experience I was expecting
Advantages: near to subway station and nice bakery Disadvantages: dirty basic rooms, scary man in our room, generally rude staff
...hostels when I arrived at Hostel Richard. Nothing, however prepared me for the experience ahead of me. On arriving at about 10pm my friend and I found the front door to the hostel blocked shut from the inside with a chair. After knocking on the door a man let us in, and in my opinion was rather rude! Throughout our check in he kept trying to look behind us to see the TV (which appeared to be showing some sort of porn!). The Hostel room was the dirtiest ... ...simply daren't visit the communal shower room! We used our sleeping bags as the sheets were dirty too.
On our last night we were due to leave early in the morning - about 4pm to catch an early train. We were awake and getting ready at about 3am, when our bedroom door was unlocked from the outside, and the man from our check in experience entered our room. Obviously we were quite shocked to find a man entering our room at 3am! He then said 'Sorry ...

Good Base for 'Swanning' around Paris
Advantages: Cheap, central Disadvantages: Very small and very basic
..., I happened upon the Hotel du Cygne (or The Swan Hotel). A bit more research on Trip Advisor and it seemed this was about the best we were going to get for our budget. According to the website, the Hotel du Cygne is "part of a restored genuine 17th Century building that is located in the heart of the city, the old and historical section of Paris" furnished with "wooden period furniture carefully gathered from years of going round the Clignancourt ... ...~HOTEL~ The hotel reception is small, with one little sitting room off to the side which is very nicely decorated and those flea market finds seemed to be in evidence there. There was another small room off to the other side with tables and chairs and a lovely grandfather clock, and this is where we saw another guest having breakfast one morning. I was pleased we hadn't paid for this as it seemed to be just one croissant, one small piece of crusty ...
