Opera Cadet Hotel
Advantages: Good hotel, good location Disadvantages: Small bathroom
...to you about the Hotel Opera Cadet, located in Paris, next to the subway stop of Cadet. I was there in July near 4 days in this hotel and did not have problems ever.
First, it is good placed, so like already I've said, it has nearby both the subway and the buses.
I speak about a reformed hotel (though not too recently). It has 6 floors, 2 elevators and enclosedly private parkings. It has also rooms of meetings, lounge of breakfast and bar, to report ... ...Superiors
- 3 Rooms for handicapped persons
- 45 Doubles - 11 Triple ones (double beds with the supplementary one)
- 16 Triple ones of three beds
- 5 quadruple ones
In all the rooms we can find air conditioning (not all the hotels in Paris have air conditioning), soundproofing, decoration and modern furniture (this puts it in the page)
Complete bathroom, dryer of hair, direct telephone, plug for fax, satellite television with radio and alarm ...

Simply the Best!
Advantages: Staff, Location, Cleanliness Disadvantages: None
Hotel Residence Foch has it all: a quiet setting in a high-class residential neighborhood; a perfect location within walking distance of the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, the Metro, and tour buses; artful French decor in the well-appointed rooms; and a generous breakfast buffet to provide fuel for your day. But most of all, there is the staff. Nellie and her desk staff could not be nicer or more helpful, and someone is there 24/7 to take care ... ...to 5-star hotels from Rome to Chicago and if you need that level of amenities (gym, restaurant, etc.), this isn't for you. But if you're looking for unending charm, the warmth of a home away from home, peace and quiet, and incredible value, the Hotel Residence Foch cannot be beat. ...

Budget accomodation in a 'lively' area of Paris
Advantages: Well located for the Metro, cheap Disadvantages: A bit tatty, extremely basic, noisy at night
...foot of our hotel ‘L’Hôtel du Chat Noir’ (in English ‘The Black Cat hotel'). We looked up at the shabby looking building and shrugged, at £100 for a double room for 3 nights we weren’t expecting the Ritz. Entering the lobby I was reminded of the description given when I booked the rooms through octopus travel: ‘The lobby is very small, consisting of a narrow corridor leading to a small reception desk. There is one lift leading to all floors.’
This ... ...the innate shabbiness of it all. The bloke at the desk was not unfriendly, however and he handed over our keys to room 79 (yes, on the seventh floor) with politeness considering the late hour. I looked at the stairs with dread but thankfully the man pointed me towards the small lift.
The elevator, like the rest of the hotel, was shabby and rather small, just about big enough for Mortimus, our bag and I. It also felt quite unstable, and upon shifting ...

Not the 'Paris' experience I was expecting
Advantages: near to subway station and nice bakery Disadvantages: dirty basic rooms, scary man in our room, generally rude staff
...hostels when I arrived at Hostel Richard. Nothing, however prepared me for the experience ahead of me. On arriving at about 10pm my friend and I found the front door to the hostel blocked shut from the inside with a chair. After knocking on the door a man let us in, and in my opinion was rather rude! Throughout our check in he kept trying to look behind us to see the TV (which appeared to be showing some sort of porn!). The Hostel room was the dirtiest ... ...simply daren't visit the communal shower room! We used our sleeping bags as the sheets were dirty too.
On our last night we were due to leave early in the morning - about 4pm to catch an early train. We were awake and getting ready at about 3am, when our bedroom door was unlocked from the outside, and the man from our check in experience entered our room. Obviously we were quite shocked to find a man entering our room at 3am! He then said 'Sorry ...

Good Base for 'Swanning' around Paris
Advantages: Cheap, central Disadvantages: Very small and very basic
..., I happened upon the Hotel du Cygne (or The Swan Hotel). A bit more research on Trip Advisor and it seemed this was about the best we were going to get for our budget. According to the website, the Hotel du Cygne is "part of a restored genuine 17th Century building that is located in the heart of the city, the old and historical section of Paris" furnished with "wooden period furniture carefully gathered from years of going round the Clignancourt ... ...~HOTEL~ The hotel reception is small, with one little sitting room off to the side which is very nicely decorated and those flea market finds seemed to be in evidence there. There was another small room off to the other side with tables and chairs and a lovely grandfather clock, and this is where we saw another guest having breakfast one morning. I was pleased we hadn't paid for this as it seemed to be just one croissant, one small piece of crusty ...
