Not the 'Paris' experience I was expecting
Advantages: near to subway station and nice bakery Disadvantages: dirty basic rooms, scary man in our room, generally rude staff
...hostels when I arrived at Hostel Richard. Nothing, however prepared me for the experience ahead of me. On arriving at about 10pm my friend and I found the front door to the hostel blocked shut from the inside with a chair. After knocking on the door a man let us in, and in my opinion was rather rude! Throughout our check in he kept trying to look behind us to see the TV (which appeared to be showing some sort of porn!). The Hostel room was the dirtiest ... ...simply daren't visit the communal shower room! We used our sleeping bags as the sheets were dirty too.
On our last night we were due to leave early in the morning - about 4pm to catch an early train. We were awake and getting ready at about 3am, when our bedroom door was unlocked from the outside, and the man from our check in experience entered our room. Obviously we were quite shocked to find a man entering our room at 3am! He then said 'Sorry ...

Good Base for 'Swanning' around Paris
Advantages: Cheap, central Disadvantages: Very small and very basic
..., I happened upon the Hotel du Cygne (or The Swan Hotel). A bit more research on Trip Advisor and it seemed this was about the best we were going to get for our budget. According to the website, the Hotel du Cygne is "part of a restored genuine 17th Century building that is located in the heart of the city, the old and historical section of Paris" furnished with "wooden period furniture carefully gathered from years of going round the Clignancourt ... ...~HOTEL~ The hotel reception is small, with one little sitting room off to the side which is very nicely decorated and those flea market finds seemed to be in evidence there. There was another small room off to the other side with tables and chairs and a lovely grandfather clock, and this is where we saw another guest having breakfast one morning. I was pleased we hadn't paid for this as it seemed to be just one croissant, one small piece of crusty ...

Your Bed...My Liege!
Advantages: Good Location, Comfy Beds, Nice Views on Our Floor Disadvantages: Crazy Maid Monsters
...ourselves into the Paris Liege hotel for 2 nights.
Where is it
---------------
Located just opposite Gare Du Nord station in the heart of Paris, the hotel liege is ever so slightly out of sight behind a few brighter signed buildings. It’s on the left hand side of the road as you cross over and has a nice subtle pink sign indicating its presence.
How much / How to Book?

Everything about this hotel seemed absolutely fine until we had our key in hand and headed up the stairs. We were told our room was on the fourth floor and there was an elevator we could use. I still cannot understand why they bothered telling us this, as the lift is obviously meant to be used for laundry movements or maintenance, not really fit for guests. It was small to the extreme and my sister and I struggled to both get in ...

Basic Parisian hotel... but a brilliant location.
Advantages: Close to some good shops, a good metro station and not far from the Eiffel Tower. Disadvantages: Tiny room, paper thin walls (and I MEAN paper thin) and quite tired rooms.
... The Hotel's Location Europe Hotel is in an ideal location on a busy street. It's situated only a 10-15 minute walk away from the Effiel Tower, which was amusing on our first day as we stood with a map wondering where the busy street we were standing in was located in proximity to the Tower... only to look up and see it just peeking over the roof tops in front of us! The hotel is also near a good Metro station (La Motte Picquet Grenelle) which ... ...over Paris. There are a few restaurants nearby, and a large shop across the road which was handy for snacks and drinks. The raised Metro line is opposite the hotel, and a market was set up underneath it on the Wednesday which was nice was a browse. On the corner just down the street from the hotel was a restaurant with a small stand next to it where a friendly man served crepes. We ended up going here a few times and he got to know us, often saying ...

The Organic Hotel? Hotel Gabriel- Paris
Advantages: Great rooms, great hotel! Disadvantages: Expensive to eat in hotel
...in Paris and booked the hotel through the Euro star website along with my train ticket. In total the hotel cost me around £150 for the three nights for a double room. When I got there I asked if we could change to a twin room and we paid 45 Euros more to do this for the three nights, so the total I paid was around £195. I think this is a very reasonable price for a hotel in Paris, especially because this one was lovely. Firstly, it is located within ... ...you need. The hotel calls itself an organic hotel; therefore the only food served is organic. Although the restaurant isn’t huge, it is well laid out and very clean. Tables and chairs are white and this is in line with the clean cut look of the hotels interior. Prices however are high; 17 Euros for breakfast. I therefore avoided the restaurant and headed elsewhere. The reception is manned 24 hours a day by staff who speak both French and English. ...
