Wonderful and romantic Parisian hotel

Advantages: Situated in pedestrianised street, full of cafes and shop, near Louvre
Disadvantages: None that I found

About a month ago my boyfriend suprised me with a trip to Paris! Lucky enough you might think - but the fact that we stayed at this hotel just made it all the better. The hotel is situated on Rue de Montorgueil (No. 56), 75002 . When you first approach the hotel (about 20 mintues walk from the main train station) it seems quite easy to miss, surrounded as it is by cafes with their tables spilling out onto the otherwise quiet and pedestrianised street, ...
...stretches back far behind the street. The lobby is small but very comfortable and beautifully clean and decorated, with dark wood and bright cream carpets. The reception staff are incredibly friendly. Everyone spoke English, but they also tolerated our poor excuse for French, and did everything possible to make us feel at home. ...spent 2 nights at the France Louvre. This is my review.... Location The best part of staying at the France Louvre was the location, right in the centre of Paris with great transport links. Metro station 'Chatelet- Les Halles' is only a 5-min walk away and seems to be a main station of Paris. The location of this Hotel is particularly useful if you are travelling on Eurostar as Chatelet station is only one stop away from the Gard Du Nord Eurostar ...
...you are visiting Stade De France this is only two stops away on the same line. After a game at the Stade De France you can be back to the hotel within 15 minutes providing you don't get caught up in queues!! This hotel is also a couple of minutes away from the Seine and around 10 minutes walk to the Louvre. Not the 'Paris' experience I was expecting

Advantages: near to subway station and nice bakery
Disadvantages: dirty basic rooms, scary man in our room, generally rude staff

...hostels when I arrived at Hostel Richard. Nothing, however prepared me for the experience ahead of me. On arriving at about 10pm my friend and I found the front door to the hostel blocked shut from the inside with a chair. After knocking on the door a man let us in, and in my opinion was rather rude! Throughout our check in he kept trying to look behind us to see the TV (which appeared to be showing some sort of porn!). The Hostel room was the dirtiest ...
...simply daren't visit the communal shower room! We used our sleeping bags as the sheets were dirty too. Good Base for 'Swanning' around Paris

Advantages: Cheap, central
Disadvantages: Very small and very basic

..., I happened upon the Hotel du Cygne (or The Swan Hotel). A bit more research on Trip Advisor and it seemed this was about the best we were going to get for our budget.
