I stayed over at this hotel for a wedding and had a great time (as did the rest of the guests).
********LOCATION*********** I knew of the hotel but had never stayed in it before. It is the closest hotel to Belfast City Airport (about 10 mins by taxi, at a cost of £3.70). It is also about 10 minutes from the city centre, again by taxi. Although we didn't go to the following I thought you might like to know that it is close to the Odyssey Arena (main concert venue), Belfast's Waterfront Hall and the Titanic Quarter.
**********BISTRO********** We did eat in the Bistro in the bar, (Gelston's Corner), the food was very nice and by no means expensive. The avage cost was about £5 per person. The decor was very traditional and always seemed busy. The staff were great, friendly professional (full of the good old Irish charm).
*************GRIFFIN RESTAURANT**************** The restaurant has been newly refurbished and I loved the wonderful collection of paintings by some renowned Ulster artists (Markey Robinson, Marie Carroll and Graham Knuttle.) We had lunch in it once and paid £11.50 for some exquiste locally caught fish. The wine list is very good and cost wise- covers most peoples budget. I did see the evening menu and a Grilled Fillet Steak was £15.75 which I thought was ok.
**************RATING********************* Officially 3*, it was refurbished in 1999 and I feel it is definately a good 3*
**************ROOMS*************** Our room had been newly refurbished and was ensuite. It was nice and bright and modern. We had a satellite TV, direct dialtelephone, tea & coffee making facilities, trouser press and a hairdryer.
*************OVERALL***************** I really liked it. It is by no means the lap of luxury, but for £80 per room per night, including breakfast, I thought it was good value for money
