downtown financial, biz, and shopping district. Since its opening in the early 1930s, the Park Hotel has been perceived as the cities focal point. The hotel, located at the 'Zero Center Point of Shanghai', was the tallest building in the city for more than half a century. Today the Park Hotel is an iconic international hotel. Its history and elegance combined with the proximity to the city's most important business and tourism landmarks create an experience that few hotels can match. The quiet and comfortable atmosphere inside the Park Hotel's tastefully appointed rooms and suites allow you to forget that a bustling modern city is just outside the door. Renovated in 1998, you will enjoy fully functional facilities and great oriental service. Occasionally one may meet famous ballet dancers and singers here who perform in the Theatre. Check-in time: Noon Check-out time: Noon, late check-out may be extended to 6 PM for an additional cost of 50pct of the room rate. Check-out after 6 PM results in an additional full days charge. There is no additional charge for children under 12 years of age who share a room with their parents. Pets are not allowed in the hotel. In case of no show or late cancellation the hotel has the rights to charge one night room charge and extra tax from the credit card of client.
Advantages: Able to get it last minute, nice surrounding area Disadvantages: Food, Staff, Price, Other guests, the room....... everything else
...It was pure chance that we stayed at the Paradis ParkHotel in Pineda De Mar. Whilst looking for a cheap and cheerful last minute deal to get some sun I spotted a package to the Calella Palace Hotel through Teletext holidays online.
After a bit of research the decision was made to book it, however, the dates we wanted weren't available. We were offered an allocation on arrival for the same price, or for an extra £45 each we could have an alternative named hotel of the same rating. Being unadventurous I opted for the latter and was given the choice of the Alexis Hotel (I had previously read reviews all of which were bad) and the Paradis ParkHotel.
I accepted the Paradis Park (as recommended by Sun4U Limtied, the tour operator) and after it had all been booked up we discovered that the Paradis Park was a 3 star, whereas the Calella...

FIRST IMPRESSIONS …
Once you arrive from the airport after the 2.5 hour flight to Croatia you pull up outside the HotelPark & from the front of the hotel it looks very big & quite sophisticated. There are about 5 steps up to the reception, which is quite difficult when you have to carry your own luggage. Once you are at the entrance of the hotel you are faced with a large open space. There is a nice marble floor...

...Background
----------------
Ashdown ParkHotel is located in East Sussex, about 0.5 miles from Wych Cross in the heart of the English Countryside. Travelling from the North, it takes approx 45mins - 1hr to reach from the M23/Gatwick
The hotel is owned by the 'Small Luxury Hotels of the World' (slh.com)
Visit
------
My fiancee and I visited this hotel on a November weekend for 2 nights (sat & sun). Driving to the Hotel from London is extremely easy although the roads between the M23 and the Hotel can get congested.
As you turn into the long driveway you reach two small car parks for the Hotel and the Hotel itself. The hotel is a spectacular mansion which has its own church. The view you first get was not the most spectacular in our opinion and does not show the grandeur of the place. The most spectacular view...
