Advantages: Central location Disadvantages: Bad service with grubby rooms
As some of you may already know, I have recently returned from a lovely break in Houston, Texas. The main reason for our trip was to go to "Wrestlemania", the WWE's large yearly event. Yes it is slightly sad to travel 5000 miles for wrestling, but you only live once and I am indeed sad! To ensure the expense and hassle would be worth it, we added an additional 7 night's holiday to the trip, making it a 10 night get away.
We booked our wrestling part of the trip direct with WWE and thought the packages sounded like the best deal for our money. Included was 3 nights in the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Houston as well as a lot of other boring wrestling things I won't bore you with! ;)
My initial reaction when we were told and confirmed on the package, of where we would be staying for the last 3 nights of our trip, I was ecstatic ...
Advantages: That presidential suite looks nice, good views over the city Disadvantages: Service isn't fantastic, above budget for the average traveller
the roads with its floors of gleaming, skyscraper accommodation. The main entrance to the hotel is just off Broad Street, on a side street, which also houses the central Travel Inn Metro. An NCP car park just around the corner provides discounted car parking, the cost of which (£8 overnight) is debited to your room account. If you are arriving in ...
Advantages: Stylish room, good service, Rox! Disadvantages: Outside of town, boring breakfast
I was quite excited to be visiting Kathmandu. The roof of the world, the Himalayas, Yaks, Yetis, and all that. I was on a short business trip so I knew that I wouldn't have time to take the fantastic dawn Everest flight (thankfully I was wrong about that!) or go yak-spotting (right on this one though). but still - Kathmandu! Nepal! The mystery, the mystique, mysticism, Miss Yeti!
Given the choice I might have picked a more "local" place to stay, or gone to the famous Yak and Yeti, but someone else was paying the bill and had booked me into the Hyatt. Hey, not that I was complaining!
The Transfer
I had asked for a pick up at the airport. I got held up at immigration getting the visa, and ended up the last person through passport control and one of the last through baggage, so I wondered if the driver was still there for me ...
