OAK WOOD ARMS HOTEL SHANNON

Advantages: Very good Hotel, great service
Disadvantages: In the wrong place.

, we were checked in in just a few minutes, all was explained Breakfast Times, location of Restaurant and Sophies Bar. We were given Adjoining Ground Floor rooms at the front, and although this is where the Car Park and Road are, we had very quiet nights. The corridors of the Hotel remind us of an Old Cruse Liner, low ceilings and lots of dark brown wooden panels, perhaps a bit too dark. Plenty of leather seating areas. The walls are covered with Photos and Posters showing what an important Stop Over Shannon used to be when planes needed to refuel for the Tran Atlantic trip. Many stars of the past, Monroe, Laurel and Hardy. Historic photos of old air travel, when they used to have Bunks (Perhaps not such a new idea). Shannon Airport

Advantages: Easy to navigate
Disadvantages: Nothing

Shannon Airport is as the review says, much of a much ness as any other airport, been to one you have been to most. The thing that stuck out in my mind was as we landed at the airport and walked towards the arrivals there seemed to be a room, conservatory, glass building full of people in uniform. As my mind was on other things at that particular moment in time I just dismissed it as security on the airport. On our return journey we arrived in good time and went through to departures and just talking about this and that when to my amazement a lot of military staff came thought towards us, and they just kept on arriving. You could see by their dress that they where on their way from the States to somewhere hot, and dusty?????the faces of the younger people said it all. SHANNON A GOOD LITTLE AIRPORT

Advantages: A PLEASANT WELCOME
Disadvantages: None

Shannon Airport, located on the West Coast of Ireland. We flew into Shannon last Friday on the Ryanair flight from East Midlands, flight time 1 hour. There was a lot of cloud on the day we arrived, and for that fact until we left on the Monday. As we decended below the clouds we could see the Shannon River, which is very large, perhaps all that rain. All the planes seem to park within Walking distance of the terminal, so no need for that Bus Crush ride, very pleasant, also the walk way for most of the way was covered. Passport control, just a little glance at the offered Passport, but a Big Smile and a "Come on in to Ireland", oh if it could always be like that whereever you go. A short walk brings you to Baggage Reclaim, this I can not comment on as we had only Cabin Luggage, for speed and to save on costs. It ...
