My experiance of paros was a mixed bag, We booked the holiday on line and looked forward to the trip making plans etc etc you have all been there the dream before you go on holiday in most cases outshines the holiday. Myself my wife and four young children flew from gatwick to Athens to be collected at Athens airport by a taxi to be taken to the port of piraus ,the flights were on time and the taxi was waiting great i thought this is going to be a holiday of a lifetime , the trip to the port was swift ten minutes at the most ,which was good as driving through Athens of a day is London x 2, as this was 22.00 in the evening it was good to be in the cool air, on arrival at the port our ferry was pointed out to us and the taxi sped off , i asked the man serving in the one cafe that was open what time the ferry sailed to told to my horror it sail at 8am the next day . We had to sit there for nine hours waiting to board the ferry spending money in the overpriced cafe , once on board the ferry which was a three hour trip in the hot sun as seating was at a premium Paros was in sight .
The tranfer off the ferry was quick and we were taken to our apartment in the old town within half an hour , but the toll on the children not to mention my wife and i was sheer exhaustion, it took two days for us all to recover .The island itself is scenic and very friendly there is not alot to do for young children only the beach the rest of the time is sitting in bars and restaraunts i think Paros is ideal for couples but a NO NO if you have young children as what you have to remember the nightmare trip to get to the island you have to face going back to Athens, as when you arrive at Athens you have to wait nine hours for your flight , there may have been many couples with children had a fantastic holiday at Paros with great transfer times all i am saying check out the transfer times and avoid the experiance i had.
