Advantages: Breath taking views Disadvantages: Dont go if you dont like heights,
My wife and I have visited the Park on three occasions and it never ceases to amaze me. Its fauna and geology are unique and not to be experienced anywhere else.
The journey is not for the faint hearted as the road meanders up through what is essentially a mountain range and the Park itself is at an altitude of 2000 feet. It is partly situated in a huge crater some 48 Kilometres in circumference and is surrounded by lava fields and ... ...in places (part of Star wars was actually shot here).
The centre piece of the Park is Mount Teide itself which is a now dormant Volcano. Access to mount Teide is either by foot which is only for the most seasoned walker, or for the more sedate by cable car. The cable car is quite expensive around 25 Euros but well worth the experience, providing the weather and cloud cover is favourable. The view is terrific and from the viewing station ... more

The journey is not for the faint hearted as the road meanders up through what is essentially a mountain range and the Park itself is at an altitude of 2000 feet. It is partly situated in a huge crater some 48 Kilometres in circumference and is surrounded by lava fields and strange rock formations which give it an almost alien appearance in places (part of Star wars was actually shot here).
The view is terrific and from the viewing station you can see most of the Canary Islands including La Gomera and Gran Canaria. The viewing station is just short of the summit which is the highest point in Spain 3,700 metres.
Visitors should take into consideration the extreme seasonal changes in climate in the Park. In the winder there can be howling gales and snow and it is not uncommon for roads to be closed. In the summer temperatures can reach 40 degrees so it is wise to check on the conditions before departing and dress accordingly. A visit is well worth while and photographic opportunities are excellent.
We went to Tenerife this july and stayed in Los Christianos. We hired a car for three days and decided to go up Mount Teide. We set off and due to my terrible map reading we ended up taking the twist bendy road up mount teide. There are two routes - one being far easier on the stomach!!!!
We had only hired a small citroen car and there were four of us packed in it. The road we took had wonderful hairpin bends on constantly and you felty like you ... ...road. Putting this aside it was the more rural route and gave us a good chance to see the proper canarian towns that are not geared to tourists. The towns are great - we stopped off and tried a typical canarian bar and the atmosphere is great - people come up and talk to you and so friendly!
I have to be honest and say that we all felt terribly sick because of the bends and we were not driving fast as the car only had a one lite engine. As you start ...

Advantages: Paradise island Disadvantages: A bit far from UK
I spent 2 days in Tenerife this June on business trip.
Tenerife retains something of the paradise island..and it is in Europe!.
The island is like a small continent, if you like, having it all, nearly tropical forests, volcanos, small deserts, a coastline which in some parts is still unspoilt and long beaches where most tourists seem to go..and even snow on the mountains!
I stayed at the Hotel Bitacora, situated on the famous beach Playa de las Amercias, (less than half a kilometer away from the beach).
We spent 95 Euros per night in a double room (I said "we" since I was mith a colleague of mine, but each of us had his own room).
I did not have too much time to go around as a tourist, but we managed to go to the ParqueNacional de lasCañadasdelTeide, which covers very large area including an enormous volcanic ...
